Since its inception at the beginning of 2020, the Spanish label Espacio Cielo has been devoting its mission to the handing-over of high-quality dark-infused gems made with love by not only rising but also established artists. Now, less than three years later, the outlet has already established itself as one of the most important imprints amid the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene – and Parissior & Team are not giving any signs they intend to slow things down.

For the next episode of its impressive journey, the label brought together a few close friends to deliver the third instalment of its VA series “The Sky Sampler”. The compilation comes packed with outstanding cuts by Silicodisco, Pumuki, Futuristant (SXDNS353) & Moo Moonster (SXDNS054), Hyman Bass, and Barko & Parissior (SXDNS206), who spared no efforts and jumped in with inspired and well-executed cuts.

Premiered here, the result of the first collaboration ever between Barko and Parissior: “High Voltage” is a beautiful retro-soaked Synthwave masterpiece with deep guitar riffs, a groovy bassline, and dreamy synth layers – a theme that would fit perfectly in the original soundtrack of any cyberpunk movie.

Based in Paris and Barcelona, Alphanova is a promising French duo with focus on non-fluffy genres such as Italo Disco, EBM, Indie Dance, and Dark Disco. It all started when Yuli de Borde and Hader noticed their energetic B2B sets had the potential to become something official not only behind the decks but also in prolific studio sessions. The result of the latter can be checked on the suitably named "First Impressions", their debut EP on Sharped Records featuring two well-constructed originals and three spot-on remixes made with love by Miguel de Bois, Ramtarr, and Zaatar زَعْتَر (SXDNS332). A watch-out-these-guys debut, we dare say.

Another artist to watch is Zaatar زَعْتَر. Hailing from Lille, France, the young and rising DJ and producer has already had her solid work published on Enlace, Playground, Soil, and now Sharped, bringing a dark-as-hell take on "Creatine" for the occasion.

If the original presents a blend of Italo and EBM elements, Zaatar’s interpretation added a dirtier and heavier coat on top, resulting in a sort of Industrial-meets-Dark-Techno cut devoted to bringing chaos to the sweaty and filthy dance floors, where it belongs. Not recommended for pool parties and beach clubs.

Chromium Dioxide brought Leitstrahl’s sound to world. The three man group of Stoff, Paul Raal and Boogaloo Steve return alongside Alberto Melloni with Azimuth. Bordello A Parigi’s own Furór Exotica are drafted in to help with the Dee D. Jackson inspired “Automaton Lover.” Disco infused and bombastic, this powerful piece employs bold synthlines and breathy vocals to devastating effect. The title work follows. An addictive melody is cut by a crisp beat in this bright and inviting instrumental. Thick basslines and a mirrorball groove introduce Spectral Fantasy. Featuring the smoky lyrics of Vongold, a tale of unexpected encounters and possibilities unfurl amidst warbling analogue strings. Slung back basslines and a low throb are central in “Light Years”, a smooth longue affair to finish this diverse 12”.

After a string of well-received works published on vital outlets such as Club Mackan, HEARec, and Under The Trees, Mundo D is finally back on (the equally vital) Espacio Cielo featuring his second EP on the Spanish powerhouse: “Bladepunk” comes brimming with four peak-time beasts divided into two pure-energy-soaked originals and two ravishing remixes made with love by Mmyylo and Parissior (SXDNS206), the label boss himself.

Mmyylo, the mastermind behind the version we were solicited to premiere/review, in turn, makes his better-late-than-never debut on Espacio after also delivering a string of well-received cuts put out on NEIN, Global Underground, My Secret Agenda, Sincopat, Side Up Works, and Dust & Blood, just to mention a few.

By decreasing the BPM of the opening theme from 124 to 116, Mmyylo may have changed the mood but not the grandeur of the original. He has respectfully kept the main elements, the Italo-meets-EBM aura, the robustness, and the gait of Mundo D’s creation, but now “Outta Space” belongs to a new sphere for a proper trip in “slow motion”.
