Lucky number thirteen in our Lost Sundays Sessions is helmed by Sydney selector, Sophie Richardson - a.k.a Waxlily.

Having supported the likes of CC:DISCO!, DJ Boring, jamesjamesjames, Skin On Skin, Sleep D and Wax'o Paradiso, Waxlily’s mix takes us across the many colours of house music and is prime for a summer Soundcloud session.

Don’t just take it from us - a few words from Waxlily on some of her selections below:

 “Roza Terenzi and Saoirse are bold, inspiring, and multi-talented artists who have joined forces on one of my favourite tracks of all time, ‘Sxc Saloon’.  It lures you in with dreamy, mystifying techno, surprises midway with a halt and downtempo dub, then powerfully drives home with speed. I love the unexpected twists and turns!

 Keep an ear out for ‘Dr Eisenhower’ by Canberra-based DJ and producer, Mtty. A dear friend of mine, Mtty is one of the most artistic and innovative in the new generation of Australian producers, demonstrating an impressive songwriting ability. He produces effortlessly groovy, bouncy, upbeat tracks, navigating between tech-house, minimal and electro with ease. 

I close with a song called ‘Lullaby’ by young Ukranian artist and producer, Bejenec, who I recently discovered in a masterful, six-hour Nicolas Lutz set posted on SoundCloud. Bejenec’s productions are razor-sharp and obscure, traversing ISM, techno, breakbeat and more. 

And finally, the song I can’t wait to play at an upcoming Lost Sundays is ‘Track 1’ by X-Coast. My sidekick, manager and agent, Branco, played this song on a recent trip to Wollongong for a show and it’s solidified itself as a mainstay in my summer sets. A star on the rise, the Melbourne/Naarm-based Aldonna joins us for the twenty-first edition of our Lost Sundays Sessions mix series 🎶

2022 is the year of Aldonna. With a debut EP, ‘Morph’, dropping via tastemaker imprint Homage New York to headline shows across the country, Aldonna shows no signs of slowing her ascent towards global recognition. A tireless name amongst the upper echelons of Melbourne's club scene, it's Aldonna's high-energy, diverse and infectious sets that have really set her apart - this mix is no different.

Read on for a few words from Aldonna about the mix below:

“An artist I've recently discovered is Man/Ipulate. He is from France and is an insanely talented producer. He makes a lot of groovy Italo and dream house which has such an old-school tip to them, yet still sounds current. I think I purchased three of his records in the same week once I discovered him, he is undoubtedly one to watch! I've included the Alex Kassian remix of his track 'Eternity' in this mix.

Speaking of Alex Kassian, I couldn’t help but put not one but three of his remixes in this mix. He is certainly my favourite producer and I think one of the best in the world. He has a signature sound, and every track he makes is a certified dance floor heater. One of those remixes included is his rework of one of my tracks, ‘The Empress’ Acid Line’ (taken from my forthcoming EP ‘Morph’, coming via Homage New York in August). Alex did the most amazing job on this remix, I couldn't be happier with it and I am so excited for it to be released!

Finally, the track I'm most excited to play in the club is 'Always’ (Tooley St Mix) by Tin Tin Out; one of my fave euro-trance bangers! It has such a great melody and build, and it always gets the most amazing reaction. It's such a fun one and I feel like it would go absolutely off at Lost Sundays.” - @aldonna

Lost Sundays Sessions 021: Aldonna

Eora-based DJ, producer and Start Local Records label-head, Tom Bruce is not one to sit still. Today, he steps up to deliver Lost Sundays Session #022 🏄🏼‍♂️

A pillar of the scene and a regular face at Lost Sundays, Tom Bruce has proved himself and more since his debut EP 'Cloudy Days Often Have The Best Sunsets' released on Eora's @galleryrecordings last year. Often spotted passing the headphones to partner in crime Cleo, this time around he's brewed up a Tom Bruce special - an hour of grooves. In his own words:

"I don't think I've made a mix that didn't include a Fantastic Man gem. The way he blends really hard-hitting bass with softer, also italo-type sounds just creates such interesting tracks that can be played in almost any setting. I caught him playing the Lovejoy party a few months back and it just further cemented my love for everything he does.

I've been listening to quite a lot of Eden Burns lately and just love his approach to making music. He just releases so much stuff and he clearly doesn't take himself too seriously, which I think is really important when making music. He just makes all sorts of crazy, groovy stuff and pushes it out. I've got in the habit of whenever he releases another Big Beat Manifesto, I go back through his discography and almost always find a new song I haven't heard.

Keep an ear out for Kermond, a local Sydney artist that I've recently been playing a lot. He sent over some demos to the label I run, @startlocalrecords, and I just couldn't stop playing them. The same week just I just happen to run into him at a gig and we just got chatting, lovely guy and is just making such cool music. His track Ur Love is a serious earworm!

'Holding On' by Lone Cat is a track I am dying to play out sometime soon. I am an absolute sucker for classic house sounds, anything with some piano and a few gospel vocals I'm weak at the knees haha. I love to sprinkle really uplifting vocal tracks through all my sets cause I just love to share those soulful moments with crowds. People should normalise clenching their fists and singing along in the club.
