We are delighted to extend the GUN-X series with a second edition in partnership with HIDE Productions !

GUN-X is a series of releases that enlarge the processes of collaboration beyond the borders of the Global URL Nation. For each project in the series, members of the GUN community collaborate with members from another collective or label - exploring the results of cross-pollination and pooling across the global ecosystem of electronic music.

After an abrasive edition with Heel.zone in 2020, we’re happy to partner this time with the incredible multi-disciplinary collective HIDE Productions from Italy ! HIDE aims to connect artists by sharing resources such as sample packs, devices, types or 3D assets, in addition to delivering sharp and sizzling releases and audiovisual projects. Their dedication to provide high quality projects and resources over the years made it one of the most obvious choices to develop the series.

For the project, HIDE members SY/N, T.U. / Capiuz, Coeden & Leden cooked a pack of samples and M4L devices that were proposed to GUN members to make a track. 

AFGA06L, B E N N x Griigg, Cralias, Fungal Mat, jjjacob x P IT, Lukann, Nagruv, Sha Sha Kimbo x xato, & Talita Otović from the GUN community reinterpreted these to deliver a 10-track compilation that ranges from vaporous synthetic soundscapes to deafening growls, bitter hits and jarring noises. A caustic club material to handle with caution !

Me In Mono has been making music under various guises for 15 years, and during that journey through sonic landscapes one thing has been a constant feature: raw energy. Coupled with a taste for the peculiar, it’s no surprise that he finds himself most at home in the darker, dingier parts of the dancefloor.

An homage of sorts to the music that led him to produce in the first place, this collection of tracks explores the beauty in the weird, and the starkness in simplicity. Created for optimal energy, percussive elements and de-tuned synth's feature heavily, underpinned by subs that help to make the tracks ready to take on the most hardened dancefloor audiences.

The music itself is relentless and loopy. While the sound design is futuristic, in structure the tracks are more progressive, content to fully explore a certain space before moving on, wringing every possible nuance from each groove. The melodies for the most part aim to generate tension, in insistent sixteenth notes that detune gradually, until we reach ‘Roo’, where some respite is provided by a sensitive Rhodes. Closer ‘Stop Harping On’ goes further into melodic explorations, featuring hyperreal scalar runs that could have come from Ferraro’s Far Side Virtual.

That which beats and resonates within you. From the Pleroma to the material world, you can experience a vibration akin to that of a heartbeat. A steady rhythm that resonates in the honey of our memory. And who can taste it?

This is a record inspired by the attempt of those ancient cultures that sought to liberate the spirit over matter; Gnostic-Tolteca ideas reflected in the vibrations, lyrics, numerology, and hermetic content of this EP. We aim for these frequencies, transformed into cosmic music—illbient, jungle, amapiano, Mxfunky, dancehall, and bass—to resonate with that infinite heartbeat.

Truth, naked and bold, often blurred by the falsehoods of reality. We awaken in our dreaming, inventing, and imagining, only to forget afterward. Blissfully.

As above, so below; as outside, so within—we come here not for much else but to remember, then to forget.

Introspection and stomping sound design prevails during the 5 originals songs across Jan’s own voice that blends perfectly with surreal droning. New York and Monkeytown Records affiliated duo Sha Ru get aboard with a 4/4 remix together with London based Eyeza, who recently released at Mexico’s Infinite Machine,  with a deranged ensemble of mutant Techno.

Making his return to the Infinite Machine catalog is Nostro Hood System boss Galtier with his 3 track EP ‘Dancing On Ruins’; a relentless slug of driving percussion and discordant atmospheres. Taking quite a step from his 2018 ‘Terran’ EP released on IM, Galtier abandons the hopeful, up-lifting, sometimes euphoric mood that has characterized much of his sound for the last few years and flexes his ability to handle anxious, hard-hitting techno-influenced material – a healthy departure from the purposeful, existential theme evident in earlier works.

‘Dancing On Ruins’ is characterized by its dusty, weather-beaten sound palette, as if such music was created and played in a desolate, lifeless world to provide solitude for the stoic beings that reside there. It is fast and aggressive, utilising techno-esque sonics as its base, yet it avoids being scary or oppressive or too stereotypical in nature.

Scuffed Souls’ leads into the chaos with the pounding force of its 909 kick that thumps over the ever-evolving, fundamentally gothic sequence of melody. It is menacing and daunting to say the least, and gets straight to the point. Rhythmically it is reminiscent of classic rave-inclined techno but draws for quick transitions evident in contemporary club music. Crisp, pointed hi hats play gracefully amongst the angry soundscape and are quickly scared off by the growling Moog bassline that rumbles in to occupy the decrescendo.

The rhythm is broken and far more syncopated on ‘Precious Quartz (To Reave), which likewise increases in BPM from 140 to 148. Being the most stripped back, percussively oriented track on the whole release, Galtier flexes his capacity to execute myriad shifts in rhythm and pace as the majority of the track chugs along, the vessel made up of a its short but monstrous kick, sharp hi hat slashes, restrained 909 rides and a mutated bell call – warning others of its approach.

Finally the namesake of the EP, ‘Dancing On Ruins’, takes place, leaving the zenith of the release’s unnerving energy for last. Galtier combines elements of UK Techno rhythm with loose UK Funky instrumentation and meshes the two and speeds things up significantly. Though the rhythm returns to a more pulsing, simply structured state, the hollow lead is pulverising and raw throughout the whole track. This, accompanied by the blistering 150 BPM tempo, makes it a vicious, restless beast.
