The Great Sleep is a series of 13 narrative audio mixes that will be aired on Internet Public Radio every first Thursday of the month from December 2019 to December 2020. For each episode, a musician and a visual artist from the Global URL Nation collaborate to develop the story with audiovisual material - a 1h mix and a visual cover, which then serve as a base for written text. Each month, we will post here and on our website a new chapter meant to be heard, seen and read.

object blue makes a theatrical return to TT with a new audio-visual EP Grotto. Released on Friday 5th March, this 5-track EP follows the release of her breakthrough debut 'Do you plan to end a siege?' in 2018 on the label.

Characterized by fleshy synths and drawing on the fantastical, blue’s pinpoint percussion guides listeners through scenes of both lushness and macabre. Opening track ‘ Opened Close ’ creases its anthemic synth line in on itself, hinting at a hedonic visitation that never comes to be. ‘ Fugitive’s Focus’ orchestral summons follows, with bass-heavy rhythmic patterns assuring us of the gravity of the moment. Now is
not the time to flee.

As the squeeze gives way to the cavern, ‘ Exorcism of a self-help book’s’ disarranged messages scratch their way towards the light. Fairytale echoes of the rave punctuate claggy walls with smooth, lush moss. Its droplets shiver through thundering bass and crystallised clicks in ‘ Procession Of Healers’ as chaotic whimsy persists abound. The final track ‘ Closed Open’ comes upon a vocal apparition whose lamentation
arrives in loops and coils. The work’s undeniable presence leaves listeners both held and shaken; with unspoken knowledge thrown into spectral relief.

Grotto is released via TT on Friday 5th March.

Premiere: SNKLS - HALF HORN

I had a fever and a cough and was waiting for the results of my covid test. This is the mood. I had planned something completely different but I let myself go with the flow of my disorder. Playing music when you're feverish and overtired really brings something different I think! Here, a kind of jerky brutality and some delirium moments.

"Ceux qui auront laissé traîner leurs oreilles au Meta l’auront probablement aperçue. Chez Metaphore Collectif, Julie veille sur les agissements de la joyeuse bande depuis nombre d’intenses années avec la poigne d’une cheffe et l’amour d’une soeur qu’elle distribue sans compter.

Vazy Julie a commencé à taquiner les platines sur le tard, mais le caractère et l'émotion sur laquelle elle a choisi de misé sont déjà très marqués et remarqués : Podcast sur Lyl Radio, Rinse, Tsugi Radio, Noods ou encore NTS et dj sets bouillants un peu à droite à gauche où se télescopent UK breaks, trap, techno indus, pop expé et bass-music, elle y va ! Passionnée de littérature et de théatre, elle aborde le dj set comme un pretexte pour raconter des histoires et dessiner des univers, privilégiant l'expérience à l'efficacité."
