When Ploy released the 2018 club smash 'Ramos', it was clear he’d hit on a winning formula.

Like the music of his Timedance label mates Batu, Bruce, Lurka et al, this was slick, modern dance music full of know-how and technical trickery – but it was also cheeky, with an infectious energy that gave it head-turning appeal and real staying power.

Ploy's contribution to our Crack Mix series maintains this same energy as well, as it races through themes and styles that influenced his 'Rayhana' EP – out now via his new label Deaf Test.

Very much a behind the scenes figure, Basic Chanel has recently crawled out from the emails to shimmy behind the decks. Hosting a regular radio show on Refuge Worldwide and running the long-standing music blog Untitled 909, Basic Chanel uses her platforms to share the music she loves and the stories behind the artist’s that makes them.

For this 4th episode of lazed mix series, Basic Chanel introduces us to a very specific selection of « beautiful dreamy ambient-leaning guitar music » she’s been collecting for a while.

LA SERPIENTE PRESENTS "SEARCHING FOR THE SUBLIME [03.07.2024]

On August 16, 2024, i was back on the Globus floor of Tresor for the closing (set-time: 05:30 - 07:30). It felt very important for me because luz (who opened the night) and Willis are friends and people i admire quite much.

So i think i needed a bit of time to get into the groove this time (always impressing to play after friends) but i had a lot of fun in the booth! Seeing some people coming from downstairs out of curiosity at the beginning of my set and staying on the dancefloor until closing was a real blessing. I'm really grateful for the dancers who made the floor quite magical on that night. I also feel blessed for my friends who either joined me for the first part of the night or who woke up specially for my set!

The selection is a big mix between new tracks, old things, and big classics (edits). I also had a lot of fun cultivating moments of silence and low volume. Most probably what i love most on a dancefloor.

The big mixing soups around 01h18 and 01h34 (i guess i was a bit tired at that point—oopsie) made me a bit hesitant about publishing the set. But in the end, i found it cute (might delete later).
