Da fasste sich das Sternlein ein Herz und sagte: “Ich war es. Es war meine Idee. Ich wollte dem guten Mond nur helfen.“

Und dann erzählte es Petrus die traurige Geschichte.

Petrus machte ein sehr nachdenkliches Gesicht, dann sagte er: „Wenn du es für die Liebe getan hast, will ich noch einmal ein Auge zudrücken.“ Das Sternlein war erleichtert.

„Aber“, sagte Petrus weiter, „einen kleinen Denkzettel bekommst du doch von mir. Du musst ab morgen jeden Abend dem Mond Gesellschaft leisten, damit er nicht so alleine ist.“

Das Sternlein lachte: „Nichts lieber als das. Ich verspreche es.“

Es war wieder Abend und der Mond schaute zur Erde herab. Aber diesmal war er nicht traurig, sondern er lächelte. Er dachte an seine Sonne und jetzt wusste er, dass sie auch an ihn dachte. Das machte ihn glücklich. Er fühlte sich nicht mehr einsam, weil er wusste, dass sie in Gedanken bei ihm war.
