After a killer set at Blue Rabbit, I’m very pleased to present the first guest on yoby presents… Dompap. 

Dompap is a DJ and selector currently based in Southampton, where he holds a residency with Public Address — a community-focused platform supporting electronic artists, DJs and dancers across the city. Originally from Bristol, Dompap’s sets reflect the diverse musical foundations he grew up around: bass-heavy reggae and dancehall, golden-era jungle, and the forward-thinking club sounds that pulse through both his hometown and his current scene.

Whether he’s drawing for high-energy baile funk, bubbling rhythms, or spacious slabs of atmospheric jungle, Dompap plays with an open ear and instinct for variety. His contribution to this mix series is a genre-bending celebration of global club culture — fun, fast, and full of left turns.

This mix is an experience, and certainly not one to miss. An eclectic mix of songs carefully curated to keep you moving: expect rhythm, drums, and a few surprises along the way. Hold onto your legs, because you’re about to dance them off.

The third instalment of ‘yoby presents…’ brings you Karob. Karob is a DJ, producer, and audio software engineer whose music blends progressive house, melodic techno, and minimal sounds. Years of producing and a background in music technology shape his introspective, loopy and progressive style. 

Inspired by artists like Maceo Plex, Ben Böhmer, Deadmau5, Röyksopp, Jon Hopkins, HAAi, Moderat, Lane 8, and Gui Boratto, Karob creates emotional soundscapes rooted in honesty and depth. His track Breathe, from the project Foreign Feelings, highlights his warm, melancholic approach — inviting listeners to feel rather than escape.

This mix takes a different turn: high-energy, peak-time, and built for the floor, Karob takes us on a journey from deep tech-house to melodic techno, with techy rollers guaranteed to keep you grooving. It’s fast-paced and percussive, with smooth transitions and driving rhythms. It’s Karob, dialled in and turned all the way up.

The second instalment of ‘yoby presents…’ brings you JACKPUDDING. JACKPUDDING is a Southampton-based DJ known for their genre-bending eclecticism, dynamic mixing, fast transitions and their sizable vinyl collection. JACKPUDDING currently holds a residency with Public Address — a community-focused platform supporting electronic artists, DJs and dancers across the city.

They have been DJing since the age of 19 and have previously put on Balearic and Italo nights in Bournemouth. They can often be found spinning vinyl at RIPE LIVE events, The Loft, God's House Tower and The Arches. 

JACKPUDDING provides us with a genre blending mix that ensures the groove doesn’t stop. Expect funky basslines with a taste of every flavour; this mix has something for everyone. They have defined their sound as "house that sounds like techno and techno that sounds like house but definitely not tech house!" Oh and it’s their first digital mix!

The fourth instalment of ‘yoby presents…’ brings you YAKYAK. A DJ name that came from her love for chatting waffle and inability to hold down drinks. She learnt to DJ in the trenches of covid, taught by a good friend in an asparagus farm. 

Her music taste was shaped by the doofs of canada, listening to clubland classics with her dad and playing jungle in her mates’ bedroom - but what brings those things together and has shaped it the most, is the beautiful people in her life who she has had the pleasure of sharing the dance with! 

YAKYAK is a resident of Public Address, led by Jacob and Hannah, who have brought together such a vibrant, beautiful community in Southampton. A mix, she claims, is inspired by them and the incredible connections, community and friendship this music scene has forged. 

A mix inspired by 90s breakbeat, XL recordings, redbull culture clash 2014 (david rodigan), the ZOO stage at boomtown, soundcloud free downloads AND most of all - her incredible mates and their endless creativity, joy, and willingness to put their head in the subs at sublab. 

She says “music isn’t serious to me, but if it makes you smile, dance a bit and share memories with your mates- i’ve hopefully done this mix right <3”

This is a killer mix: full of fast-paced upbeat tracks, quick transitions, and truly embodies YAKYAK’s energetic personality. Expect breakbeat, high energy and rhythmic rollers.  All I’ll say is, it might be hot outside but the heat from this mix is something else…

The fifth instalment of ‘yoby presents…’ brings you AfrodeX. AfrodeX hails from South Africa, which he argues is ‘The Capital of House and Dance’. 

He brings a fresh sound to the Southampton scene: Afrohouse and Amapiano. His sound is influenced by the African Drum, Ancestral rhythm and chants, with a touch of a European take on Afrohouse.

AfrodeX brings you a stellar mix of Afrohouse. The mix builds with hypnotic, tribal melodies, Afro vocals and smooth transitions. This mix is black coffee-esque and perfectly accompanies this sunny, warm weather 🌞
