I like that. Some of the Demo Dats were quite bad, but I always remember the sound of Colin saying Demo Dat Pressure! 

This is cool, must have been a lot of fun to make.

Love this, great stuff :) Those days of Faver and Dale on Kiss were amazing - especially that 92-93 period when they were still playing a lot of breakbeat stuff:)

Back in 1992  , me and my oldest friend Steve  made this track on his Roland S-50  Sampling workstation. He  was a hip hop producer and a horror film fanatic  -I was someone who to drove in convoy to warehouses , fields , seedy basements and sports centres  in London   so we could  dance all night .I spent a lot of my time recording Kiss FM , various shows -Colin Dale , Colin Faver , Steve Jackson , Paul Trouble , Fabio And Grooverider etc which helped me to discover the wider world of all  things breakbeat,   techno , rave  ,house   garage . 
It was on Colin Faver's show that had he this section called " Demo Dat Pressure " . Demos were sent in from people jus starting out in the game - one was sent in from a Richard James -  the track was called Didgeridoo . 
We had been playing around with stuff for a while - I had persuaded him to speed up the breakbeats and we proceeded to make some " techno " trax  ( thats what they were in our mind )- You can hear his horror influence and my rave influence in this one. We had about 4 tracks done which we decided to send to Colin . The next week we received a phone call telling us our track was gonna be played - we listened that Tuesday night at 10 pm - and sure enough he played it - WHAT A BUZZ - that first feeling of someone who has really inspired and excited you - supporting your work - we had thought we had made it :) 
We didn't have a clue what to do next - so I carried on listening to Kiss and got into DJing ( naturally ) and Steve carried on with his burgeoning Hip Hop career . I was playing around with bits of hardware but it wasn't til maybe 2000 that i started finishing tracks again .

I lost the recording of the Colin Faver show - but after a chance conversation recently with Ricky Swank who knew us both in those days - it turned out he had our demo cassette - so he sent it to me - and it was so nice to listen to them again - I think this one has stood up pretty well - so thought I would share it .

Earl Grey’s repertoire includes releases on esteemed labels such as Eastern Promise Audio, Plush Recordings, Subtle Audio Recordings, Western Lore and his own Hyperchamber Music. Following the success of his experimental Headwinds LP and his addition to the “Teddy Bear Trilogy”, Earl Grey now brings dynamic new EP ‘French Exit’ to Inperspective Records. 

Opener ‘False Horns’ is a deep track with a sinister build, teasing in an eerie horn sound to create an atmospheric soundscape, with the hypnotic, jazzy fused breakbeat finishing what is an outstanding start to the incredible EP. ‘After They Turn The Rigs Off’ adds an electrifying complexity that takes us on a journey, leading with vocal samples and a piercing beat, before transporting us to a spiritual world through echoing chants and a lighter sound. ‘Mime Jar Lens’ is refreshingly toned-down in comparison to the previous exhilarating tracks. Nonetheless, it packs its own punch, with sharp breaks and an ambient jazzy style that is captivating and dreamy.

Title-track ‘French Exit’ is eerie in a way that will have you hanging on for every beat, as it breaks sonic boundaries and pulls you down into a deep underworld. Earl Grey demonstrates his hypnotic powers, drawing us out from the superbly dark world of the previous track and into the light, dreamy sound of ‘Lessons Learnt.’ ‘Hypothermic’ rounds of this release with a rolling, richly atmospheric track. This closer seamlessly combines both the lighter, ethereal sounds and moodier, dark tones of the other tracks.

‘French Exit’ presents a masterful collection of tracks that twist and turn, but remain united by their richly atmospheric sound. Earl Grey marks his third Inperspective Records release with an invigorating, unique EP, pushing the boundaries of drum and bass.
