Real Love is an existential, indie-blues rock anthem for unrequited lovers. Real Love tells the troubled tale from the perspective of a man who desperately wants to find love, but instead finds himself at odds with everything from God to science to his very own philosophy of love — ultimately, landing somewhere in between simply moving on in triumphant catharsis, and a fundamental questioning of every instinct!

Indie artist Todd Binder’s third single, Alameda, was released August 18th, 2023 on all major platforms. Alameda transports its listeners to another era, evoking the poignant emotions of sailor following World War II.  His thoughts expose an underlying, deeply human desire for meaning and validation in the world around him. Despite the calming beauty staged by the musical score, Alameda is bittersweet and devastating in its nostalgia and longing. Alameda was also written as an homage to the island city of Alameda, California, where Todd Binder called home for a while.

Recorded at legendary Tiny Telephone Studio, this single bursts forth with an epic level of energy, backed by an experimental drum beat, and synth sections that, at times, seem to make the track soar. Todd shows us that our shared experiences and natural ability to create can be the source of new adventures. Ultimately, he urges the listener to seek out and savour these connections before it’s too late.

Todd Binder is a pioneer of alt-indie music — music with a timeless quality that won’t be cornered by any one type of genre. Creating art-pieces which seamlessly weave together elements of multiple genres of music, he began performing on the local bar scenes for the Charlottesville, VA and surrounding cities, where he quickly gained a reputation for his high-energy shows and songwriting talent. His work garnered the attention of industry notables such as Paul Evans, co-author of The Rolling Stone Album Guide, who offered "Great songs. Insinuating vocals. Extremely promising!" as well as late Dave Matthews Band saxophonist Leroi Moore, who invited Todd to record at the band's private Haunted Hollow recording studio in Virginia. 

Now based in Marin County, California, Todd Binder began officially releasing singles in 2023. His first 3 releases were selected as semi-finalist winners in 5 categories of the 2023 International Songwriting Competition: best Adult Album Alternative, best Unsigned, Sunray; best Americana, Real Love; best Folk/Singer-songwriter, best Unpublished, Alameda.
