Grooving early with an AM radio and a tape recorder, DJ Nitrous AKA Todd Daniel was into the top 40 first.  He always caught the Casey Cassem Top 40 count down every Sunday Morning on WBT Radio (Charlotte, NC).  The year's ending charts was a non-miss from the age of about 8.  Singing in the church adult and teen choirs helped him develop his vocal skills despite any positive re-enforcement from his Southern Baptist parents.  

After being cut from a special events choir sing at the church, the young lad followed his scene from his first purchased cassette tape, Quite Riot , Metal Health.  The scene was a local group of mostly boys who BMXed and just about any outdoor activity to home made Nitrous tapes.  He still has the original demo of tv songs recorded from the Zeinth TV.  Hesitating to stop the recorder, he threw  in some short snippets and Theme songs of some of the great prime time TV shows such as “The Incredible Hulk”, “The Dukes of Hazard” and “Dallas”.  The afternoons were also caught on tape with the great animations of “Star Blazers” and “The Battle of the Planets”.  His collection of Top 40 and Zenith Recordings kept him in a very relaxed and peaceful mindset.  

Metal was his scene from 7th to 10th grades with an earn for something different and Punk.  This sound was not found until his first inspiring cassette copied from his Golf Pro boss, U2 ,”Under a Blood Red Sky”.  1986, paved his path to a progressive sound and his first alternative label purchase, Tears for Fear, “Songs from the Big Chair”.  

His taste and sling head put him in the subculture at WSBF Clemson, the first week of collage, hanging with the real cool cool, such as playboy model Samantha Southern and DJ Elizabeth Rawlinson (Hot Pink Polyester).  Pulling industrial records for the great sounding and  not over used guitar, got Elizabeth’s attention and he stayed at the station like a lost pup.  Not joining the station and getting FCC certification until 1992, he joined the station on the engineering staff and also the music review staff.  His first show was in the Fall of 1992 and this is where he got the name DJ Nitrous, from his 3pm Friday afternoon rotation slot.  

Wow, here comes acid house and rave to the southeast, he would club every chance from Orlando to NYC with the Kids of  PLUR.  He is currently a laid off engineer seeking equipment.
