After a string of acclaimed releases on Token and a selection of remixes, Ø [Phase] released his debut album ‘Frames Of Reference’ on Token this fall. It earned him outstanding reviews at Resident Advisor (“a display of real power and finesse” 4/5), in DJmag (“a calculated masterpiece” 9,5/10), at XLR8R (“sticks out as an alternate route to the heart of machine music's appeal” 8/10), Groove Magazine (“pulsating techno in which every sonic details fits”) and more.

After the double a-sided first single ‘On The Edge / Perplexed’ in June, we now bring you the 2nd single.
‘Dirtro II’ is definitely one of the standout cuts of the album and shows Ø [Phase] in his darkest and deepest mood. On the b-side he is joined by one of his biggest inspirations & one of techno’s most legendary innovators: Robert Hood. The result is a carefully executed yet explosive peak time cut.

Once again Life and Death presents an assemblage of some of today’s finest artists with a Various Artists release of such high quality that it could have easily stood out as distinct and separate releases. But together these producers and their contributions combine to create something even greater than the sum of their parts. A story assembled from different voices that slowly builds from Sei A’s opening Muladhara-centered “Hyper Venom” and takes off from there, following the path of these musical Mahatmas as they riff on various states of elevation. 

Following Sei-A’s opener is Locked Groove’s shift to the Undenary with “Eleven”, a triumphant score for the everyman’s ascent. From there, the ever adept Scuba comes strong with “Glacial”, a deep track that shifts focus back and forth between both what lies below the surface and what climbs above it. And then, finishing the rise upward is Alex.Do’s expertly woven “Rising” which delivers on the promise that its title offers, never backing down and moving ever onwards and upwards even in its final rising tones.

We'll always have a special place in our hearts for Jamaica Suk here at Data Transmission, after all she was the act to kick off our Spotlight Mix series almost a year ago. Now returning to Tim Xavier's label, Face To Face Recordings, our favourite Berlin-based Californian is back on the DT with EP title-track 'Trusst'.

Having spent the summer toiling away in her studio above Berlin garden club, Salon Zur Wilden Renate, Jamaica Suk presents 4-tracks of dusty, gliding techno to follow up last year's Spektrum EP. Clocking in at almost 8-minutes long, opener 'Trusst' offers an intergalactic tribal trip of mammoth proportions, perfectly setting the tone for the rest of the EP.

For this latest entry into the LFRMX-catalogue Len Faki has chosen two synth-driven tracks of anthemic proportions. Reeko, also known as Architectural, with only one release under his Humano-guise, gets picked for its dramatic strings and larger-than-life stabs, slowly building towards a driving momentum, taking on the peak time with style.
The flip sports mainstay Inigo Kennedy, whose original track built heavily on atmospheric IDM-breakbeats, but works just as well with a straight corset issued by Faki, now highlighting the poetic synth work at its core even more.
