Tesla Boy - Dream Machine (Tokyo Rider Remix)

Sometimes you just have to try something new. It started as playing around with various M1 sounds, and ended up being a new track. It's something completely different from what you might expect - there's no in-your-face basslines or tear-your-head-off screaming synth lines I'm so fond of (and many of you too, I believe).
Instead, here's a chilling piece, heavily inspired by 80's japanese 'city pop' music and the musicians like Toshiki Kadomatsu and Hiroshi Satoh. I did my best to grasp the feeling of this time - lost forever and infinitely appealing. 
Hope you would like this! Get ready for a flight!

On a hot summer sunset, you can notice a lonely red car racing down the Enoshima coast, defying the speed limits. A lonesome driver, enchanted by speed, continuing his neverending race with the time and space. Tonight, once again, he's off to his usual journey. Don't try to stop him. Don't try to hit the brakes. Don't stand in his way.

"I've… heard things you people wouldn't believe… Death Grips mashed up with the "Shoulder of Orion"..."


The story goes like this: once I messaged Lazerhawk, asking for some synth tracks from "Shoulder of Orion" to make a nice remix. 
Unfortunately, he never answered. 

So, I had to go another way. Ultimately, upon finding a Death Grips' acapella, a dark and vicious sound of this mashup dawned upon my mind.

So here it is, not nearly as nice as it was intended to be, and loads more insane that you could possibly imagine. Enjoy!

Not Over Yet

More than a year ago we came up with one of the greatest ideas possible: to throw a badass singer, a badass songwriter and a somewhat decent composer (yours truly) together to form a retro-inspired synth band. We decided to begin with making a cover of some sweet synth tune, and "Sidewalk Talk" by Jellybean and Madonna appeared to be the best choice. Unfortunately, our project never took off, and from today I can't really see that happening. However, here's the instrumental track of our version.

Making a cover, you always try to contribute to the original - and, man, that was a challenge! The original groove is extremely good, and these synths were really tough to get right. I also tried my best to catch that special airy feel of the original solo. After all, this track was probably one of the most fulfilling musical tasks I've ever done.

A Complete Guide To Running Wild EP

Aluminum

"A Complete Guide" was already finished and sent to a label, when I came up with a simple idea of a pure "driving track" - first in a long string of those; just like Pink Floyd tried to emulate LSD trip by means of progressive rock, I made an attempt to recreate my image of midnight cruising through the neon streets. 

I can't say I'm fully satisfied with what it ended up being, and at that point I wasn't really sure if it's a good idea to keep writing at all.  But in the end, this track gave way to Red Miata and Omegashima, so today I want to share it with you.

...and, as it turned out, releasing on a bandcamp-tier label is never a good idea

Chiba Overdrive

Oh, the Insomnia Drive. This track was more of a peculiar coincidence, but it has shown me a completely different direction 80s style tracks can take - a quiet adventure to syncopated rhythms. This is probably one of my personal favorites up to date; creating something like this was a dream of mine, and I was really surprised when a track like this came together in my hands.
By the way, pay attention to chords during the bell solo - actually I messed up the patterns and the strings are shifted by one measure, which produced some nice harmony. Sometimes your errors make your track better - that's what I learnt producing this one.

Insomnia Drive

Have I been asked to find a single word to describe "Tuned to a Dead Channel" EP, the word would certainly be "different". These tracks were my attempt to break from "Juno bass+DX7 strings+Jupiter-8 brass+Linndrum+Miami night chase" formula of creating vintage electronic sound.  I wanted my sound different. I wanted to hear what the music of late 80s might have been like – and what it never became. I wanted to venture into techno territory, trying to fuse it with synthwave and house harmonies.

This particular track is a direct homage to Neuromancer, as well as the EP name. I didn't really stick with the idea of making a Gibson-esque album, but this track, as well as Mirai Minato from the same EP, do feel really special due to their sound, which completely differs from the outrun dogmata.
