A Colossal Blossom | 2021

This sound installation, titled "Resounding Transitions," delves into the evolving ecological landscapes of urban Turkey, with a particular focus on Ankara’s transformation from natural riverscapes to concrete urbanity. Inspired by the methodologies of soundscape ecology, this project seeks to form a critical sonic practice that not only serves as a supplementary indicator of ecosystem health and biodiversity but also fosters new forms of sensitivities towards the nonhuman agents within these environments. By employing recorded sound samples collected from various locations in Ankara—where the murmurs of rivers have historically silenced by the encroachment of concrete—this piece constructs an acousmatic soundscape that challenges the traditional categorizations of sound and its sources.
