Roy Ferguson was a country singer born in Cedartown Georgia in 1917. This song was written based on a conversation with his daughter, Jean Dobbs in Covington Georgia. Her recollections became, Roy's Song. Roy Ferguson born Cedartown Georgia 1917 Died 1973 Parking Lot of Holiday Inn after his final performance, Conyers Georgia.

Tom Bennett wrote this song on an early morning bus ride in Rose Park, Utah. The melody was his first waking thought this early spring day. While in Georgia he wrote the lyrics sitting on a dock on Lake Sinclair while shooting a documentary about his Great Grandfather, Roy Ferguson, a country singer.

Most recently it was double pnemonia. She lives 2000 miles away in Georgia so I call often. She always keeps her head up and stays strong. I wrote this for her over the phone on Christmas Day 2013
