Juno Review -Toronto label Selections has become a firm favourite with house heads and now starts a nice sideline with its Special Edition 2023 series. This one welcomes Lea Lisa with her track 'Conversation Between Us' (Heide Club Mix) which is straight up underground house for the heads. Then comes an unreleased Javonntte remix of Evenn's 'One For Love' that pairs things back to raw dub essentials. Dan Only's 'Love Saturates' then gets a fine and formerly unreleased remix by Italy's Black Loops that has pristine drum programming and a fine bassline. Add in Sean Roman's jazzy dancer 'Sir William' and Jamn Ensemble's 'Convection' and you have a timeless house EP.

In 2020, Le Mystérieux Orchestre Électronique de Paris started recording some pieces of Furniture Music, for activities requiring concentration, or simply for relaxation.

The Orchestra uses generative music processes. Electronic tools are considered interpreters, who are bona fide part of the ensemble. Analog synths are used along composition software. One of the main dogmas is the exclusion of any percussive instrument. These purely electronic sounds are contrasted with field recordings gleaned in various places.

Somewhere between Ambient, New Age, perhaps Krautrock, the first album by Le Mystérieux Orchestre Électronique de Paris is made up of musical pieces which are often about ten minutes long, in order for the listener to curl up into its pads and repetitive melodies

Taking a step further into Fourth World music territories, “Lysergie Villageoise” is a meticulously crafted collection of four tracks imagined by Okinawa-based guitarist Paul Mahoux. These compositions sum up 30+ years of experience and experiments by the french-born producer, blending traditional music and modern techniques in a very singular way. All four tracks feature Paul Mahoux’s unique concoction of flavours, a signature soundscape which brings Jazz, Folk, Ambient and House together. Constantly blurring the lines between proto and advanced sounding, Paul Mahoux’s music recalls deep forgotten feelings and invites us to a psychedelic voyage through rural impressions and ancient times beyond the frontiers of folklore.
