I first heard this being played by Dj Cheeba on his Reels of solid steel tour. Amazing and fun tune

This break sounds similar to the break in the song "Never Stop" by The Brand New Heavies. Wicked!!! Dirty Bassline.

I've been digging this track for a couple years now, I just thought I should show some love because I have listened to it a great number of times.

Today’s premiere is an exclusive preview from the self-titled debut LP of Turkish psych rockers MLDVA & Çınar Timur. 

MLDVA & Çınar Timur's debut LP is an electrifying collection of expertly recorded tracks that radiate energy, deep grooves, and hard-hitting breakbeats—everything you would expect from a classic Turkish sound, conjuring comparisons to Barış Manço, or more recent successors to the “Anadolu Psych” sound, such as Altın Gün or Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek.

MLDVA originated in Krakow, Poland in 2013 as a DJ and production outfit. Their deep appreciation for Greek and Turkish folk and psych-rock music propelled them to transform into a full-fledged band, incorporating instruments like the saz, which is a hallmark of the Turkish sound. In 2015, they welcomed the talented Turkish instrumentalist Çınar Timur, completing the lineup for their debut album.

"Adımız Miskindir Bizim" starts with an enticing fusion of hip hop and funk, until the chord changes ground the song firmly in its Turkish roots. Çınar's microtonal electric guitar introduces recurring motifs that give the song a distinct character. The track also features captivating solo Rhodes action, creating a sense of urgency. The lyrics, originally written by Yunus Emre, criticize destructive values like holding grudges, which hinder love, friendship, and peace among people.

The Stagger EP sees Keep Up! sticking with more-beat driven instrumental productions with four tracks of good old-fashioned Hip Hop. Two to stomp to; two to mellow and in the mould of a beat tape. Opening with title cut Stagger could be something straight out of the Madlib school of hooks with its immediately recognisable sample flip accompanied by live swinging drums. Two Point Four drills down harder at the dancefloor with a skippy beat, relentless bassline and coupled with a cheeky vocal hook. 5am switches the mood to back the home stereo. Laid back, but still sample-based. The blinds are drawn down on the EP with closing track Smoke in my eyes’s supremely mellow piano and double bass lick is the call to stub out the last light of the night.

The Stagger EP is released digitally via Kudos Records Distribution on Monday 16 February 2015.

Keep Up! Records is excited to reveal its second release of the year which is another debut for the label. Its also a debut release for the artist himself, Brixton based DJ and producer BodyMoves.

North Spaulding is a four track EP of instrumental hip hop, soul and beats, carved out of a three month period of living in and around Los Angeles. Armed with a Native Instruments Maschine and a turntable, and inspired by the sights and sounds of record shops, yard sales and swap meets; North Spaulding is a raw yet soulful production.

However, this EP is more than an homage to the LA beat scene. Opening track This Is Gabor's House is more dusty Afrohouse than Flying Lotus with rootsy percussion, chanting and otherworldly melodies running throughout. Mellow Cotton is an off kilter hip hop number, this time working a soulful vocal sample and reshaping it into some entirely different. What You Gonna Do edges towards disco with a memorable brass hook and the same Maschine edit treatment. The EP closes on a mellow but soulful, swinging tip with Next Up, by using a cleverly chopped up sample which seems to be playing backwards as well as forwards and a killer sub.

North Spaulding works not just in the headphones but out on the dancefloor and is just the beginning for BodyMoves. Watch this space!

Brixton based beatmaker BodyMoves has been playing soulful house, beats, funk and disco around South London's eclectic dancefloors for over five years. Over the years his music, (in different guises but mainly as BRXTNFNK) has had DJ support from Josey Rebelle, iZem, Hector Plimmer and Bobafatt. It has featured on mtv.co.uk, Comedy Central and the BBC, and he recently remixed a track by Collocutor from their Gilles Peterson All Winners album for Peckham via SubSaharan Africa label, On The Corner Records.

BodyMoves hosts regular radio shows on Nula.FM and Dinamo.FM as well as guesting on NTS Radio with CDr and was a finalist at the Samplethon beatmaking competition in 2014 organised by WhoSampled.com and iconic music library Boosey and Hawkes.

@awkwardcorners' upcoming album, A Book of Imaginary Beings, is filled with strange, evocative vignettes, each one conjuring a figure or moment that sits somewhere between myth and memory. Among them, 'Regretful Polar Bear' stands out as a miniature of restraint and atmosphere, a piece just 2:27 long, yet one that lingers with surprising weight.

Originally released on Shapes Of Rhythm (@shapesofrhythm) in 2017 as a part of his "Southern Uplands" EP, Octo Champ (@octochamp)'s Lacuna gets the remix treatment from Germany's David Hanke. While the original was more on an start-of-the-night Disco-House tip, this flip is a tad deeper with added keys and synths to also appease the fully electronic heads. Best known as his Renegades Of Jazz (@renegadesofjazz) alias, David Hanke has been in the music game for longer than most. With over 100 remixes to his name, his skills in re-crafting tracks to fit on a floor is almost second nature!
