A little Guitar Pro demo thing I made this week, trying out some patterns for a longer piece i'll record at a later date. Inspired by post rock and those instrumentals that go behind 3D urban design presentations from planning companies, hence the name.

City Building

An acoustic demo for a song Im working on with a bit of a 90s alt sound going on.

Both guitar and vocals were done in 1 take, and the vocals are pretty mouthy as I had to be quieter for the neighbors so it's not too perfect in performance, but as a demo it doesn't really need to be.

Its about memories that keep you going when the world has gone to shit - or something. 

Burn Auburn Acoustic Demo

A short Guitar Pro demo for a song I'm writing which is the most complex thing Ive ever written or will be bothered to do again. This is just the Verse, Bridge and Chorus - I havent really written the middle bit yet and I couldnt be bothered to tab the Intro. Hopefully I'll do this one with Burn Auburn if we ever seriously get back together.

Today Is Calling

I wrote this piece when I was about 15 in 2006. It ended up being a much longer performance piece with a series of solos and key changes just on piano that I performed a few times in 2007, but this is the original demo which, somewhat annoyingly, people seem to prefer.

 It would be good at some point in the future to revisit this and put on some proper drums that aren't just a piano tone pad, and improve the slightly muffled quality which is possibly a result of  compression on a floppy disk, which it was originally saved on from the digital piano.  

However, as yet I haven't been bothered or had time to produce a re-recording, plus the fact that re-recordings of songs are usually shit.

This is me writing post rock before i knew what post rock was.

Back On The Scene

My name is Tom. I write a lot of songs but am never able to record them because I am constantly fucking skint for a studio or pc equipment. 

The songs on this page have either been recorded on a phone voice recorder in a shared building I have to be quiet in, or were made on Guitar Pro 5, because that’s all I have.

I can’t really sing either. I can get notes fine but whatever it is that makes the noise is for some reason broken for me. I am unable to shout or be louder than a whisper. I physically can’t get any other sound past my lips that vaguely resembles singing . I am defeated by my own face.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of tracks I have written and constructed in some way or form. If you stumble across them and know a singer and have a free studio, leave me a comment, otherwise it will just be this.
