In the beginning there was Jack and Jack had a groove… Jack is a deep energy, it’s a feeling on the dancefloor. This is the dish that Hijack is serving up on Box of Cats before launching Realoop Records with Wongo, their brand new label for house heads.

Hijack has always been known for his remixes, a master of cutting things up and giving them new life in a style that is instantly recognisable as his own. That's exactly what he's done on these two records. He has switched Kyle Watsons 'The Sample' and given it that jack groove with just the right amount of techno energy. Pitched piano stabs and a deep kick drive this one all the way home. Next up he loads Wongo's 'Dusty Jackson' into his chop machine and adds a swinging bassline melded into filter house vibes while keeping the groove locked. 

He's done exactly as he said he would, hijacking these records and planting them firmly into 2022.

Oh no, not again.. not him. That guy that writes techno and pop music. Seeing as though Wongo is a co-founder at Box of Cats it seemed fitting to invite him back to do another one of his 'Not For Radio' releases. While digging around his 300 demos it was quite obvious he's not one to stick to one genre or bpm. For this EP we chose the dankest, most naughty ones we found. Ones that are fit for big systems and loud dancing.

We kick things off with The Dome, a brooding bass, big ass house stab and a whopping build up. This is that peak Wongo energy we hear him playing at his shows, when he's a little too 'sauced'. We then dive a bit into the electro version of Wongo with Jungle Juice. A fun, disco-esque record. Filtery vocals, arp bass and some fuzzy drums, mmmm. If you are craving a holiday in Bali, Uluwatu is the choice for you. Tropical vibes without going too many piña colada's. 

We love Wongo (and yes this is Wongo typing right now, pretending to write in third person) and we are very please too see him coming home!

The Climb is a revisit to that dark side of Kyle we all love to hear. Just like a slap on the bum from your mummy, this club tracks sick drums and Moog-y baseline leave a red mark. If you behave and listen at low volumes it might not hurt, but that’s no fun :P

As a veteran of the Houston scene and DJ of 30 years he brings UKG Proper a very special mix that is the culmination of his passion and journey through the years encompassing his many loves of multiple genres but never wavering in his love of bass music and continues it as the founder of Soul Bass Project spreading the gospel of bass every chance he gets. YouTube's algorithm has a knack for uncovering previously unheard records and transforming them into online cult classics, destined to climb into millions of views. One such album is Tatsuro Yamashita's 1982 LP "For You" - a work of pure & immediate sunniness, evoking endless summer evenings enjoying fruity cocktails. The record contains all the hallmark features of Yamashita's music and the "city pop" genre with which became synonymous: funk & jazz inflected pop with taut melodic songwriting, pristine production quality and a playful disregard of pretension.

Tom EQ has been producing since 2008 and has releases on Box of cats, Jack Union, Dirtybird, Wearhouse, Gung Ho!, Simma, Jack Knife and others. He is 1/2 of "The Potato Heads" along with Jeff Doubleu and is most recently collaborating with Kyle Watson under the moniker of "TK".

Tom EQ has been lucky enough to DJ all over the world in Countries like Australia, South Africa, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Latvia and UK. Including at the infamous Ministry of Sound where he once played a 3 hour set warming up for David Guetta which almost ended up in a toilet tradgedy since the club was too packed and the gents were too far away.

Tom EQ is a born and bred turntable junkie who likes talking about himself from a 3rd person perspective.

All this and still at the tender age of 15.
