Love's on Fire

This track is the latest barrage in my campaign to stop people saying I sound like Glen Tilbrook. It's not that I don't like Glen and Squeeze - I do! But I don't hear the similarity in my voice, apart from my having a white-soul-pop kind of voice. I prefer it when people compare me to Paul McCartney. Anyway, that's irrelevant. What I hope to have achieved on this track (with the help of engineers Will Purton and Darren Jones) is a track that is warm and yes, soulful. I sang close to the mic to get that kind of 'close' vibe (how articulate I am today!) Thanks to Will for playing keyboards and Helen Maher, whose backing vocals really helped to build things towards the end.

This track is available to buy at www.tomgeorge.bandcamp.com...It came to me when walking along Princess Avenue in Liverpool. I originally imagined it as a band tune, something like Emily and The Faves/Belle and Sebastian, but I started playing it acoustically and it works really well. When I came to record it with Will Purton, we added some percussion, bass and other little bits to create a subtle arrangement which keeps plenty of space in the track. Thanks Will, good job.

This is a pop/punk track that I'd completely forgotten about. I used to play it with a band called Mind of a Toy in about 2007..? It's a decent recording and I could polish it up a bit and put it on a new album. I don't play this kind of stuff much anymore....but I think this song is too good to languish in the shadows unheard...
