Someone tell me why
I'm staring at the sky
I should be falling down a well

Head full of stars
Distant avatars
How do they weave their spells?
Ride their swirling carousels?

Count all the things you lose
When you chose
And when you do not as well
Sometimes it's hard to tell

Oh nocturnal song

Solitary stars
Come ring the hours and

Tell me the tale
Of ships that never sail
And a place I'll never dwell

The alchemy of dreams
Too dear it seams
When you're wrapped up in a hermit's shell

A world of shifting clouds
Far from the madding crowd
Philosopher down a well

An alien, an infidel
Too far beyond the pale?

Nocturn

This was unavoidable for me.  Politics aside, I think we can all agree that the mounting innocent victims of global conflict are a tragedy beyond measure.  These casualties should not be ignored as we sit in the comforts of our cushy little lives.

Moonlight and shadows
Paint the town
In shades so disarming..
the look in their eyes…
never to see the next morning

In the pile of rubble under me…

I’m crossing Ursulines
To the park by the riverside

But then he sees my tear stained cheeks

And so I continue on.

It comforts me Til i believe i can be strong

into the breaking dawn
Saint Louis' spires begin to glow
It’s time to face the music

Another Red sky at morning
and it’s too late to heed the warning
