[ENG] Ultratech Records is thrilled to release the second leg of Tom Nox’ space quest, which resumes the story he started to tell us with his EP “AD ASTRA”, released on the label in November 2023.

This new release on Ultratech Records includes his latest track “Into The Unknown”, which opens a new chapter of his musical journey and leads into a darker, more uncertain, yet inspiring galactic expedition. AD ASTRA – CHAPTER II also includes exclusive remixes by Ultratech’s founders Cinder, Shônagon and Vertebral. So, look up to the stars and let yourself be carried along.

Ad Astra Ch. II: Into The Unknown [ULTRATECH RECORDS]

[ENG] Ultratech Records is proud to release AD ASTRA, the first EP by Tom Nox. AD ASTRA (“to the stars” in Latin) is Tom’s first chapter into mankind’s space quest. It mixes powerful kicks and bass lines, melodic synths and acid patterns.

The first track “Life” uses a sample of a speech given by the renowned astronomer Carl Sagan, who often described this paradox: by constantly searching for extraterrestrial lifeforms, mankind also forgets to cater for its own planet, where life is so precious. The second track “Ad Astra” contains a genuine sample of radio chatter between the crew of Apollo 11 during their lunar mission, and aims at showing how inspiring space exploration can be. Finally, “Outer Space”, based on a sharp acid line, also tells how risky and mysterious this quest can be.

[FR] Le label Ultratech Records est très fier d’annoncer la sortie d'AD ASTRA, le premier EP de Tom Nox. Mélangeant kicks et lignes de basses puissantes, synthés mélodiques et motifs acides, cet EP - dont le titre signifie "vers les étoiles" en latin - est le premier chapitre d'un voyage au cœur de notre quête spatiale.

Le premier morceau “Life” intègre un passage d’un discours de Carl Sagan, célèbre astronome qui a souvent décrit ce paradoxe : à force d’espérer trouver des formes de vie extraterrestres, l'humanité en oublie aussi de préserver sa propre planète, où la vie y est pourtant si précieuse. Le second titre “Ad Astra” utilise quant à lui ui un échantillon authentique de communications radio de l’équipage d’Apollo 11 lors de leur mission lunaire et vise à montrer à quel point l’exploration de l'espace peut être exaltante et porteuse d'espoir. Enfin, le dernier morceau “Outer Space”, basé sur une ligne acide bien tranchante, symbolise le caractère plus mystérieux et risqué de l'entreprise spatiale.

Tom Nox is an electronic music enthusiast that got infected by techno music in the late 90s, when it carried these typical early underground flavors that only a small community would share back then. He bought his first vinyl turntables at the age of 16 and began music production shortly after. He then paused his artistic path to start a career in aerospace, his second passion in life. He turned back to music production after the Covid-19 pandemic, realizing that making music has always been part of his inner self.

Tom’s music mixes powerful kicks and basslines with melodic synths and acid patterns. His inspiration reaches deep into one’s darkest but also brightest moods. His sounds remind of old-school acid techno and trance with a modern flavour.
