My first record was "Ready To Die" by Biggie Smalls. I was in middle school at the time and up until that point I recorded stuff off the radio on to a cassette. I was in love with Paula Abdule and Michael Jackson. This CD opened up my perspective to others in the middle of a struggle. I loved the perspective that no matter where you are you can rise above the negative. This song was a celebration, a victory over a deadly lifestyle. My cousin killed his mom, my friend overdosed and died, my father left us but when I heard this artist say he made a new life for himself...well I was hooked, I was certain I could do the same.
