The third Realm Of Consciousness compilation on Tale Of Us’ Afterlife Recordings is the label’s most complete statement so far.

The four-vinyl opus opens with Tale Of Us’ now anthemic ‘Nova’, a high-impact and well-loved staple of their sets this year. Agents Of Time continue with the percussive rattle of ‘Paradigm’, before the first released collaboration between luminaries Recondite and Henrik Schwarz shines with understated melody.

Amongst Mind Against’s eerie masterpiece ‘Portal’ and impressive first appearances on Afterlife from Scuba (as SCB) and Steve Rachmad (as Sterac) are ethereal contributions from Fideles, Ovend and Øostil. UK techno veteran Edit Select channels the darker, hypnotic spirit of Afterlife with ‘Phase In’, setting up the sprawling, 14-minute epic from Luigi Tozzi and Antonio Ruscito.

To begin the compilation’s fourth disc, Konstantin Sibold & Kosme’s ‘Cyclone’ lifts the tone, leading into a more introspective sound from Hunter/Game on ‘Changing Weather’. Upcoming German talent Kevin De Vries follows with his infectious cut ‘Mágoa’ and Tone Depth ends the odyssey in mesmerising style with ‘Ibn Sina’.

The full spectrum of Tale Of Us’ Afterlife label is on display here, as they continue to push the envelope with a high-quality and diverse selection of artists.

The new label is called NOTTURNA because it's made for the people of the night, the Nocturnal An imals. People who feel at home in the darkness and in sparkling  lights, the outsiders of the "normal" daily routine. During the night people show their true faces, secrets arises, the duo explains.

The first E.P. contains 'Atlantico' the long time and awaited track from the Undercatt fans + *Alien' a speciale favourite and regular track in Solomun's sets, who has been the only who has had it since June.

'Far Outside' introduces the deep atmospherics, with its metallic elements and slow burning melody, while 'Sweatbox' creates an entrancing mood with its timbered percussion and pulsating lead. 'Ostkreuz' stands for the dubby, restrained piece, with tempered percussion and bassline that give a womb-like feeling. Emerging from arcadia in a time when reality needs it most, MoBlack Records' 377th release summons Fortaleza-based, house music veteran, Carlos Francisco to render a stunning ballad nurtured by grief and nourished with love. Nestled in an ambrosial concursion of multi-dimensional percussion, Iorona builds up into a stark chorus rippled by an elusive melody, mellowed by tender piano notes but ultimately bound by the humanity of skin-on-skin, grounded in the simple rhythm of the basic hand clap.
Francisco garners the poignant perspective of a fellow South American in side B. Armonica have built a solid reputation over the last few years with standout releases on Mo’Black, Still Vor Talent and Madorasindahouse. Now they join forces with producer Corey Epstein and vocalist & songwriter Alex Who? AKA Dear Humans for an EP which sees the collaborative team digging deep with 3 tracks of atmospheric and emotive electronic excellence.
 
The release opens with title track ‘Music + Me’ , a beautifully textured affair withrising strings, deep rhythms and a entrancing synth work that conjures up the feel of early electro ambiance. Spacious, musical and emotionally haunting, this is a real gem from this collective.
 
The second title, ‘Better With Time’ comes in two variants, opening with Armonica’s version which journey’s into deep, melodic house, with a hypnotising rhythm section producing the perfect base for the delicate piano lines and heartfelt vocal of Dear Humans. The package is completed as Dear Humans deliver their take which has an expansive and laid back feel characterised by tribal percussion, xylophone lines and a stunning treatment of the vocal which sucks you into the groove.

This is a superb collaboration that results in a truly memorable EP on connected.

microcastle's third offering of 2020 welcomes Ivory back to the label for a new EP. Based in Milan, Italian artist Daniel Tagliaferri aka Ivory brings a surreal beauty to his innovative brand of electronic composition. As a perpetual favourite of Adriatique, Ame, Dixon, Lehar, Tale Of Us, Toto Chiavetta and Trikk, Ivory made his microcastle debut in July of last year with 'No Scale Can Resize You'. Rising to #1 in Beatport Indie Dance and Melodic House & Techno, the release received praise from both his contemporaries and fans alike. Carrying momentum forward, 2020 has yielded significant creative successes for Daniel. The release of 'Dreamers' via Innervisions and 'Hold Your Breath' via Multinotes have proven to be two of the year's most well received tracks. Now fresh off a remix for L.K.F Project via AZZUR, Ivory makes a welcome return to microcastle with 'Light Through Water'.

As a much-requested track from Ivory's sets, it is the arcane wonder 'Time Lapse' which gets the EP underway. Rhythmically buoyant, it's rippling low end, kaleidoscopic synths and fiery percussion set the release on a course for aural enlightenment. Although best known for his warmer, musical prowess; it is the wintry quality of 'Quartz' which follows, placing Ivory in the unique spot of also being able to craft starker, more rhythmic compositions. A highlight in the sets of Trikk, it's peculiar blend of titanium kicks, icy refrains and hypnagogic synthscapes set the stage for the robust muscularity of 'Steam Machine'. A recent favourite of Toto Chiavetta, this austere, machine-funk delight appears to be set for dance floor destruction.

Moving forward yet stripping things back are the hypno grooves of 'Minderals'. Another creation championed by Trikk; it's slow burning drawl, percussive splashes and pyrotechnic synth design are perfect for the more astute connoisseur. The twisted echoes which lurk in 'Minderals' are decayed further still on the following number 'Eufrat', a track where Ivory's elastic grooves and metallic sonics are set against a backdrop of pixie-like effects.

Trending towards the grandiose is the title selection 'Light Through Water'. Pitched somewhere comfortably between dreamy reverie and symphonic bliss, it's a piece equally at home above a festival skyline or sitting in the emotional sweet spot of an end of the night scenario. Captivating and poignant in equal measure, it's widescreen nature tastefully melts down into the fluid tranquility of 'Arpstairs'. Ivory flexes his borderless versatility here, as notes ring out into timeless suspension, while a gentle flurry of arpeggiated tones sweep their way across a bed of broken rhythms.

Serbian based Coeus has been steadily amassing support and can already claim that names such as Tale Of Us, Solomun, Adriatique, Dixon and more are behind his music. He played the piano from a young age and this early understanding of melody seeps into his music now. Characterized by deep melodic progressions he has forged a unique sound in this space. 

The title track “Echoes” opens the package. It's everything you would come to expect from the Serbian, built on a drive drum track, the track is highlighted by a beautifully evolving synth line throughout. It takes you on a journey throughout and keeps the ear hooked.

Serbian based Coeus has been steadily amassing support and can already claim that names such as Tale Of Us, Solomun, Adriatique, Dixon and more are behind his music. He played the piano from a young age and this early understanding of melody seeps into his music now. Characterized by deep melodic progressions he has forged a unique sound in this space.

The title track "Echoes" opens the package. It's everything you would come to expect from the Serbian, built on a drive drum track, the track is highlighted by a beautifully evolving synth line throughout. It takes you on a journey throughout and keeps the ear hooked.

Up next is "Hyper". Much like the name suggest this is an uptempo offering; the increase in BPM and the change of vibe aims this directly at peak times on the dance-floor. The expansive lush sounds of the opening track are swapped for some deeper, darker sound design and the overall outcome is a much more pulsing piece. Following comes the remix by the Italian duo Alfa Romero, who take the track to a more melodic and emotional terrain, printing their stamp on their reinterpretation.

Rounding off the EP is a final original offering by Coeus, "Eunaia". Vastly different to what we've heard on the EP so far, this shows us the spectrum the artist has. The track is based over a break style beat and paired with an ear catching arpeggio that draws you in. The weighty baseline pulls the track together and puts a fitting and emotive end to a very strong EP.
