the song is supposedly about my grand father but the story is based on my father , my mother's father and even mom. for example in the first line, it was my father who was born in 1925 but the irish don't apply signs were around in my grandfather's time.

i started playing this chord progression and after a few weeks, words and melody started coming to me. it started with the bend in the river and went from there. funny story though. when i first wrote the lyrics i had molly being under age and the singer was imagining their future life. after i recorded it that way, i sounded like a pedophile so rewrote the lyrics as a memory
