Presenting his long awaited full-length album, the king of disco re-edits Dr Packer graces Glitterbox Recordings with six brand new mixes alongside twelve of his rare cuts and well-loved treasures. Dr Packer’s Different Strokes features Dr Packer versions of soulful house favourites, disco standards and groove-laden floorfillers. Following two DJ mixes from Dr Packer featuring bonus tracks, the album kicks off with a bonafide classic. Dr Packer’s take on Soulsearcher’s ‘Can’t Get Enough!’ maintains all its most iconic elements, the euphoric vocals and timeless groove given a fresh-sounding elasticity. Another highlight and an album exclusive, ‘Big Love’ from Peter Heller’s Big Love is brim full of Dr Packer’s unmistakeable warmth, cowbell accents giving the groove some bump. Next is Dr Packer’s remix of The Shapeshifter’s evergreen ‘Lola’s Theme Recut’ followed by another album exclusive, Candi Staton’s ‘Hallelujah Anyway’. Ron Hall & The Muthafunkaz featuring Marc Evans ‘The Way You Love Me’ (Dr Packer Extended Remix) is the third new cut, followed by another new remix for this album, Dr Packer’s version of Johnny Corporate’s ‘Sunday Shoutin’’, picking up the pace with a funking bassline to suit any dynamic disco set. More highlights include Dr Packer’s versions of ‘When Love Breaks Down’ by The Shapeshifters featuring Teni Tinks and ‘Set It Out’ from Purple Disco Machine & Boris Dlugosch, both brand new remixes. Jazzanova consume to welcome a series of excellent remixes of tracks form their latest and great album, The Pool. Next up is the legendary house shaman Osunlade, who serves up four fantastic versions of ‘Everything I Wanted’ feat. Charlotte OC. 

Osunlade is the Yoruba Records boss and spiritual character with an uplifting, jazzy, deep and afro tinged house sound. Born in St Louis, Missouri, he is a hugely prolific musician, composer and producer who brings spellbinding moods and grooves to everything he does, as these four new remixes prove once again. 

Opening things up is the Yoruba Soul Mix, which flips the original into a steamy, surging house track with smeared synths propping up the expressive vocal and loose percussion. An instrumental version of this one allows the soft edged keys and supple rubber drums to come to the fore and cast their spell on the dance floor. 

Then comes a Beats Mix which is all about the woody, organic drums and scattered hits. The result is a warm and infectious track that is perfectly designed to get bodies moving, and last of all is a Yoruba Soul Stripped Mix. The fantastic vocal is the centre piece, with knocking percussion and underlapping drums all adding to the spine tingling nature of this most soulful house track. 

Over the past decade the German group, consisting of Alexander Barck, Claas Brieler, Jürgen von Knoblauch, Stefan Leisering and Axel Reinemer, have worked on a multitude of projects. They’ve toured live with the band, hosted radio shows, DJed, remixed tracks by Hugh Masekela, Joe Bataan, Aron Ottignon, Malika Ayane (and many more), curated their labels Sonar Kollektiv and Notes On A Journey and recorded a live studio sessions album of some of their most beloved work. It’s been 23 years since they first got together, and their latest album drew from all those years of experience while exploring new territories.
