"I was lucky to be growing up as a clubber in Edinburgh, Scotland in the 90's when it was blessed with some great clubs. Two of these in particular - the legendary techno club Pure and the unrivalled house club Tribal Funktion were huge influences on me, with both clubs bound together in the same location - The Venue (check the tracklist), a sweat-dripping, low-ceiling temple of chaos and creativity, now sadly no more.  Some of the tracks on this mix are old, some are newer but they all reflect these influences and the kind stuff myself and my friends might have been listening to either in style, in spirit or vibe. This is a party jam - a range of tracks that might've have been played at a house party surrounded by friends to propel them onto the living room dancefloor, or hype them up and get them out the door to a club. Clandestino 027 - Black Merlin (Part Two)

For podcast number seven we turn to the exceptionally talented German DJ that is Mick Wills. Rather than searching for the spotlight, Mick is DJ who cares only about the people dancing in front of him. He isn’t in this game to become a famous superstar headliner, he just wants to play records without a care in the world. And that is exactly what he does at knowing clubs around Europe. As a producer he has a small but perfectly formed discography with releases on International Deejay Gigolo Records, but it are his DJ skills that we focus on here.
 
His two hour mix was recorded live at a Knekelhuis event at Amsterdam’s Studio 80 and starts off with some supple techno and intergalactic atmospheres before churning up his grooves with rough textures, kinked electro beats and tripped out acid jack. Getting deeper in the second half, the mix seamlessly transitions through many scenes and styles, taking listeners up, down and round and round in the process. Strap yourself in, then, and enjoy the ride.

BLUE FICTION /DECONSTRUCTION

Tomas started his career in the golden era of minimal and glitch techno and helped to define the genres. 
His live performance at the inaugural Mutek festival in 2000 caught the ear of Force Inc who signed him shortly after, just eking-out Akufen to become the first Canadian on the label. In the era where vinyl still ruled, and digital downloads were just a twinkle in some corporation's eye, Tomas dropped albums on Traum, Klang Elektronik, Revolver, Audio.NL, and more. 
Since then, two decades of producing has seen Jirku manipulate house on Arbutus Records; hip-hop with his laser-gun-rap project The Killaz; dub on his highly regarded "Entropy" album; electro, ambient, and other experiments that defy genres. With experience performing around the globe and having made his mark on innumerable record labels, Tomas has been honing back in on techno, aiming to maximize the brain and body connection that deep techno can provide.
His recent releases on Seattle's Innerflight, Berlin's Thoughtless, Vancouver's Subspec, and Rome's Concrete record labels further prove that the Canadian producer has built a strong repertoire by not doing anything straightforward or ordinary.
