For those who were asking what the mysterious mix that was put on after the DJs stopped playing outside at the Life and Death party in Art Basel, here it is. A mellow trip prepared by Greg from Thugfucker and presented here as a little thank you from all of us at Life and Death. 

It's been an amazing year and we're so very appreciative of all the support we've gotten as we've adventured forwards on this incredible musical trip together. We've got lots of exciting things planned for the year ahead (and beyond!) and we look forward to continuing together on this ride wherever it takes us.

Thanks for being there with us along the way. It really does mean the world to us...

An evening at D59B

Tom Clark, a native Berliner, has been a part of the electronic Berlin music scene since the fall of the Berlin Wall. His musical passion developed at an early age. At school parties, he played a mix of hip-hop, disco, NDW (New German Wave), and rock using cassette recorders and a turntable. His classmates loved it, and that's how Tom became a DJ.
In the early 90s, he co-founded a mini club night with friends that ran every Tuesday and significantly contributed to his breakthrough as a DJ. He started getting more bookings for various parties and after-hours events in Berlin, eventually catching the attention of major clubs. His reputation as a tireless, precise, and emotional DJ led him to residencies at two influential clubs of that time, which have shaped Berlin's reputation as the global Techno City No.1: Tresor and E-Werk.
In 1994, he was discovered by the now-defunct Frontpage Magazine and toured with them as a new "star" to prominent clubs across Europe. These included renowned venues like Privilege in Ibiza, The End in London, Rex Club in Paris, Omen in Frankfurt, and others.
In 2000, Tom founded the label "Gold Plate Music," serving as a platform for new Berlin club sounds and the label "Laufwerk." Later, Highgrade Records joined, playing a significant role in the emerging minimal house scene at that time. Over the course of 13 years, Highgrade Records released more than 170 productions. Tom himself released three albums and over 30 singles under the name Tom Clark, as well as numerous projects under various pseudonyms.
For a decade, Tom not only regularly performed at Berghain and the old Ostgut, but also organized his own label nights and collaborations with labels like Freak'n'Chic and Wagon Repair.
In the summer of 2010, the five-member live project "Highgrade Disharmonic Orchestra" was formed. They toured Europe for two years, resulting in several EPs, singles, and an album.
In 2012, Tom started the project "False Image" in collaboration with the Canadian artist Noah Pred. Under this alias, they released 10 productions on Get Physical Music and other labels.
From 2013 to 2023, Tom ran the small legendary Berlin club/bar "Anita Berber." Over these ten years, he gradually stepped back from the label and DJ business, focusing mainly on providing opportunities for new aspiring artists to perform at the club.
Of course, Tom hasn't forgotten how to DJ, and now, after the closure of Anita Berber, he intends to focus on his productions and DJing once again.
