For the first of our 2014 Podcast series, one of Colchester's most talked about artists and Vibe resident; Ben Kanaris, takes us on a journey, straight to the heart of the underground.

2013 was a breakthrough year for Ben Kanaris as he firmly established himself as one of the hottest up-and-coming DJ/Producer’s to come out of Colchester in recent years. Having already played alongside Hector, Jon Rundell, Julian Perez, East End Dubs and Pelo Rizardo; Ben’s sets infuse his knowledge and love for the darker side of House and Techno with his own unique style and hypnotic groove. 

At just 20 years of age, Ben already has 4 releases under his belt including the highly acclaimed ‘As They go’ out on My First Love Records and with another 2 already scheduled for this year, 2014 looks to be another important year for the young DJ/Producer.

For our second podcast in our 2014 mix series, we introduce our newest resident and fast rising star of the underground, Scott Kemp!

His largely founded dub-like bass lines, have been grabbing the attention of clubber's and fellow artist's alike, for several years already, and with ever growing support from industry pioneers including Desolat's first ladies 'tINI' and 'Anthea', and Panorama Bar’s ‘Julie Marghilano’, his mounting reputation as a formidable DJ/Producer is entirely justified.

So with Scott now headlining at some of the UK and Europe’s most revered events, alongside his recently signed residency at  Vibe, it’s safe to say that 2014 will be even more colossal for this likely London lad, as he continues his ascent to the forefront of a new generation of music pioneers.

Next up in the Play Podcast series is debutant Lewis Waltham.  Another fine example of the high caliber of talent emerging from Colchester at the moment; Lewis has been on our radar for some time now.  His sound is one that is undeniably emotive, as you'll hear for yourself over the next 55 minutes.  A cleverly pieced together journey with classic organ stabs, heavily swung drums and plenty of soul at the start leading nicely through to the heavier, darker rolling beats and bass at the end, Lewis has done a great job of announcing his arrival.  Sighting his inspirations as artists such as "Larry Peters" & "Snilloc" he definitely has a fine ear for a decent track and brings a classic, groove ridden feel to the proceedings.  

Having been a Tribal regular for a while now, he is fully aware of what is required to move a dancefloor and the specific dynamics of the club we call home; there is no denying that Lewis is one to watch for the future and for that reason we are pleased to be the event that gives Lewis the chance to cut his teeth.

Play Podcast Series 10 - Lewis Waltham

Right then, here it is...  episode 3 in our 2014 podcast series! As one of our longer standing residents, we can happily introduce Mitch Hobson to the mixer for an hour of underground House and Techno.

Over the last 3 years, Mitch found his true passion for the underground sound and has soon enough found himself playing at some of`the best venues/clubs Essex and London has to offer. 

Mitch's smooth mixing ability alongside his innovative & experimental sets got him recognition in his hometown Southend and before he knew it, he was playing alongside artists such as Claude Von Stroke, Hector, East End Dubs, Julian Perez, and Ittetsu. With plenty more gigs in the pipeline, he is excited for what the future holds…
