The Earth Laughs In Flowers

Initially released in Atlantea Records label last month, this album is a labour of love, an exploration of refusing to abandon an initial idea, by cultivating and persisting even if it did not make sense or I wanted to give up. I learned to love each song, to surrender to the process and to trust its potential, believing that I can serve as an instrument for its beauty to unfold.

The ten songs are crafted to be experienced as one cohesive piece. In the fast-paced rhythm of our lives, we sometimes overlook the importance of slowing down and redirecting our focus inward. My invitation for you is to indulge in the luxury of opening space for yourself by setting a time to relax and listen to this album with the intention of self-care and self-reflection, just to see what happens.

Delectatio - Promise Me (ANKŌ Private Edit)

This is the next single from the Tom Day & Jake Lowe collab  - a track that is inspired by the wintery cold fronts that blast up from the Antarctic and hit our state of Victoria. Southerly changes bring snow, gusterly winds and dangerous swell in the southern oceans. We've tried to capture the mood of these cold fronts in the track, especially that ominous calm feeling before the storms arrive. Artwork again by the very talented Luci Everett

Tom Day & Jake Lowe - Southerly

Tom Day is a solo artist residing in Millgrove, Australia and has been creating ambient and electronic music since 2005. Characterised as “effortless and raw”, Tom’s tracks couple elegant beats and piano melodies to an array of personally-collected field recordings, his style alternating between promising swells and restful plateaus.

Having grown up on a farm on the Mornington Peninsula, Tom is strongly influenced by the ocean beaches and natural openness of his hometown. Other influences include cinematic scores by Alan Silvestri, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Thomas Newman, Hildur Guðnadóttir, John Barry, Clint Mansell, Austin Wintory & John Williams, as well as modern classical and electronic artists such as Ólafur Arnalds, Jon Hopkins, Tourist, DjRUM, The Cinematic Orchestra, Segal, Nils Frahm & Bonobo.

The music of Tom Day has been used in independent film and documentaries from around the world, with clients including National Geographic, Volvo, New York Times, Momondo, Holden, Juice Media, GetUp and Tourism Victoria.  Having worked on an array of joint projects with other musicians and visual artists, Tom is deeply drawn to the synthesis of sound and image.

In 2018, Tom launched an ambient and drone side project under the alias sɹoɹɹᴉɯ.
