Faded Lights is about the uncertain in life, and how unpredictable things may be turn out to be better than firstly expected.

I wrote this song for my little white cat, Valerie. 

We adopted her after visiting a local shelter, where she had been in for months without anyone taking her home. We think maybe because she's completely deaf, people didn't want her. Since that day, she's been by my side in the studio (fast asleep while the music is blaring). We love her very much

It's been a tough year for everyone with COVID, inept governments not supporting citizens through the pandemic, unchecked climate change rapidly increasing due to feedback loops.. the list seems to go on and on. I've wanted to revisit this song for a while now and I thought with all that's going on, now is a better time than ever.

Never Give Up was one of the first songs I wrote back in 2011 when I decided to stop writing club music and focus on chill/soundtrack stuff.. I guess you could look at this as a 10 year anniversary remix ;)

Tom Day - Never Give Up (2020 Reprise)

Tom Day is a solo artist residing in Millgrove, Australia and has been creating ambient and electronic music since 2005. Characterised as “effortless and raw”, Tom’s tracks couple elegant beats and piano melodies to an array of personally-collected field recordings, his style alternating between promising swells and restful plateaus.

Having grown up on a farm on the Mornington Peninsula, Tom is strongly influenced by the ocean beaches and natural openness of his hometown. Other influences include cinematic scores by Alan Silvestri, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Thomas Newman, Hildur Guðnadóttir, John Barry, Clint Mansell, Austin Wintory & John Williams, as well as modern classical and electronic artists such as Ólafur Arnalds, Jon Hopkins, Tourist, DjRUM, The Cinematic Orchestra, Segal, Nils Frahm & Bonobo.

The music of Tom Day has been used in independent film and documentaries from around the world, with clients including National Geographic, Volvo, New York Times, Momondo, Holden, Juice Media, GetUp and Tourism Victoria.  Having worked on an array of joint projects with other musicians and visual artists, Tom is deeply drawn to the synthesis of sound and image.

In 2018, Tom launched an ambient and drone side project under the alias sɹoɹɹᴉɯ.
