LOVEVANGELIST / MUSIC LIAISON

Not many people know that Norway had its own summer of love in 1981. In a blissful three-week stretch of hot weather and erotic encounters, a flock of international musicians found their way to Oslo. At that time, a beautiful and innocent young waitress called Adelisa Dragebo was coming of age and discovering the sensory pleasures of this world. Her café quickly became a hangout for the stars. Particularly Talking Heads front man David Byrne was seen sipping brandy and nibbling on homemade pastry till closing time almost every day. 

Around nine months later Adelisa gave birth to a baby boy. While at first a bit shy and shook by his own sudden arrival, the boy quickly started spreading light and love like no one in Oslo had ever seen before. Or, as his mom usually introduced the child to strangers: “His name is Tom and he will make you feel good.”

Tom Dragebo is not a nationalist. That’s why he decided to be his own diaspora of love and music. From Norway he walked barefoot to Barcelona (hence the prosthetic big toe, ladies), and later back up north to the obviously love, humor, and joy deprived population of Berlin.

These days Tom often returns to Oslo to check up on his people and play them some well deserved quality tunes. In Berlin he also regularly fills the air with eclectic waves of slow electronics, disco, house, and techno. His own most recent work includes music on Full Pupp records and a remix for Oslo’s underground favorites, Legs 11.
