Crazy , bombastic & disturbing! (great . . .) : )

In 1887 when he was 21, and before before his famous Gymnopodies and Gnossiennes had been completed, Erik Satie composed this first Sarabande as one of three he wrote for piano. At the time he was an impoverished conservatory dropout making his living as a piano player in bohemian taverns and cabarets like Le Chat Noir. The Sarabandes were not published until 1911 with the support of Ravel who also introduced and performed the second Sarabande in concert in 1911. Satie's sometime friend Debussy wrote orchestral arrangements of the piano Gymnopodies in 1897 and conducted them to Satie's great acclaim in 1911 in Paris. Here Berkeley composer Guillaume Pearson has written a lovely orchestral arrangement to accompany my two guitar version of Satie's 1st Sarabande. This song started with Tez coming up with a heavy riddim and monster bass to go with it, over which he laid his clockwork rhythm guitar. He shared it with Josh, who came up with the piano and organ parts. It was pretty much done, but we wated vocals on it, so it languished on the digital shelf for almost half a year. 
  That is until Saskia heard and worked with Tez on a different open collab on his page. He then offered her this one. She downloaded it, added her superb vocals, and sent it back to the other two to review. They were blown away by her creativity and skill as a singer, and are very grateful to her for reviving the project. 
  When it was all laid down, Tez mixed it expertly, as always. Saskia took his mix, sped it up and adjusted her vocals, too. She is a very competent producer, as well.
  Tez and Josh are big dub fans from way back, and this is the latest in a couple year running series of collabs in the genre from the two of them. They are very grateful to Saskia for doing such a wonderful job of completing the song. Look for her in future collabs, both with Tez and Josh, as well as with their band, The Eclectic Collective. We all hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Esta es la búsqueda de Destiempo, el disco debut del productor colombiano Matt Emen en +ambién.

Alejado de su estilo habitual –una mezcla lo-fi de grabaciones de campo naturales, melodías nostálgicas y un ambient de la Bogotá leve– Matt toma un rumbo radicalmente distinto en esta nueva entrega: explora las posibilidades de la percusión arrítmica, el poder caótico de los samples mal cortados y la belleza sónica de las texturas sucias, densas y ultraprocesadas.

¿El resultado?

Un viaje metálico y eléctrico hacia una distopía espacial en donde lo artificial es la ley y lo humano se confunde con lo robótico.

Cada track es una estación del recorrido. “Señales”, retrata una planeta desolado, en el que la radio es la única ventana hacia el mundo. “Lodo y metal” es una imagen de la suciedad terrestre de un planeta sin vida. “Abrázame” suena como un grito de auxilio en medio del caos. “Despegar” marca el escape hacia un nuevo hogar en el espacio. “Nostalgia” evoca el recuerdo de lo que ya no existirá nunca. “Desprenderse” se aproxima al final del disco, invitando a soltar el pasado y aceptar que: 

Nada es para siempre.
