This mix in my ‘Trance Elation’ series focuses on a very important set, one which can govern the mood for an entire club night or event… the warm up.

I cut my DJ teeth playing warm up sets at BabypaSSion in Loughborough in the very early noughties and what it taught me was that restraint is the name of the game for the warm up DJ. No promoter worth their salt would be happy with the first DJ on the line up banging out the big hitting, hands in the air anthems to an empty dance floor, especially when the doors have only just opened. Do that and you will probably be never asked back to play again.

Starting at 128 BPM, this mix chugs, weaves and builds it’s way to a steady 134 BPM finish. I think it’s a perfect “getting ready to go out” soundtrack, so I hope you enjoy it.

Manchester. Where to begin. You can keep your arena shows, your festivals and your super clubs. Give me a dirty warehouse full of smiling faces, a kick ass sound system and an open to close set where I can truly play anything I want and I am never happier. Friday night was off the chain. Without question my favourite gig that I’ve EVER played in Europe. 
Sold out and packed from the start, it was taking off after only three records. The energy was electric and the intensity just grew and grew. That void sound system was just delicious. It loved being driven - as did you. I can’t thank you all enough. Big up to Sam and his team. Legends. In the wake of Trancecoda’s Boxxed run coming to an end and therefore also my annual ten hour sets there - it feels amazing to have a new home. 
Hopefully next time we can do 8 hours….or more???!!
