BrazilBeat collaborate to deliver sparkling new song “This Time”

On the heels of their last release, BrazilBeat Sound System have collaborated with vocalist Jasmine Taare and producer Maaka Phat to bring out “This Time”. 

The sparkling house track draws together shimmering vocals with heavyweight production, and blissful exuberance, destined to make it a dance floor standard.

Jasmine Taare (Ngati Porou, Ngai Tamanuhiri, ) is a singer based in Te Tairāwhiti/Gisborne, New Zealand. Growing up in a musical family she began performing from a young age. She has sung with music legends such as Maisey Rika, Jackie Clarke, Brannigan Kaa, and Dennis Marsh. An active supporter of the local music community, she has won many accolades at the local Country Music Awards, and in 2007 was crowned the Country Music Entertainer of the Year. Jasmine has also showcased her skills on various reality TV singing competitions, including X Factor, Pukana, Five Minutes of Fame, Māorioke, and My Country Song.
 
BrazilBeat (comprising Nego Beto Percussion and DJ Mara) continues to pump out their music, having released an EP and two singles in the last 3 years. The EP Tropicalness  contained five songs ranging in genres from Afrobeat to house. The single “Beautiful Linda”, created together with Sydney-based Chilean producer Tony Garcia and featuring Nego Beto’s vocals, is a straight-up house track that has been racking up plays and inflaming the clubs.  And just this year they pulled an old track “Future Is Now” out of the trunk and breathed new life into it, creating the Bangers Remix.

Maaka Phat, drummer of the iconic Aotearoa band Southside of Bombay, is one of the country’s most respected producers, having worked with many top Māori artists and toured his own original act WAI with co-creator Mina Ripia through Asia, Europe and North America. Their album Wai 100% which came out in 2000 was well ahead of its time, fusing Reo Māori vocals with electronic beats.

“This Time” is a song about relationships, about getting back together and doing it right this time. It’s about the longing that goes with being in love, and the recognition of past challenges, knowing that to be our complete selves we need to come to terms with the past. It’s about optimism, and the belief that we can break old habits. We can be better people.. this time!

"Belgian-Dutch producer and DJ Harold van Lennep returns with Walk the Talk, a new single that threads the line between organic instrumentation and deep electronic energy.

Born in Brussels in 1993 to a Belgian mother and Dutch father, van Lennep’s musical roots run deep. Trained as a pianist from a young age, he began performing in local concerts before discovering electronic production as a teenager. His work—anchored in melodic piano riffs, textured arrangements, and emotionally driven sound design—blends classical sensitivity with club-ready momentum.

Walk the Talk opens with a present, percussive groove, gradually layered with bold, staccato gypsy-inspired brass fanfares that weave in and out with flair. A funk-driven bassline soon drops in, locking tightly with a tremolo-drenched guitar loop and a sharp, high-pitched lead lick that drives the rhythm forward. The track’s break introduces a more introspective moment, featuring a lush synthesizer-led chord progression before gradually blooming into warm, melodic arpeggios that round out the composition.

Equal parts cinematic and physical, Walk the Talk showcases van Lennep’s instinct for merging live instrumentation with detailed production. The result is a track that moves the body and lingers in the mind.
