Here it is! The last instalment of the year! 242 tunes and 12 months later, we made it out of the madness that was 2021. Very glad I decided to do the mix series at the start of the year, I've rediscovered so many old favourites and had a real good time each month digging and selecting bits for each offering, finding blends and having fresh ideas. Pleased to say I stuck to my original goal and no tracks have been played twice through the series! After getting a new mixer and my technics upgraded and serviced, it would be rude not to continue the 100% WAX mix series! So here is the first instalment of 2022. Starting the year with just over an hour of some of my favourite UKG records, dug out some serious gems for this one, and managed to find a few saucy blends with some percies. Mostly slabs from that golden era from around 97-99, couple slightly older and some newer bits. Personally some of these, especially the Chris Mack bits are some of the best Garage riddims out there in my opinion. One for the heads! Enjoy the ride 💚

Tom Frankel - Orchestrate [Pound For The Sound 002]

This mix is possibly the most special mix I've ever recorded for me personally. The years 2011-2013 I did 3 season in Ibiza, and as cliche as it might sound, that island literally changed my life. I Landed there in 2011 as a DNB and Jungle fanatic, confused by the lack of technics and the fact that it literally this island just dominated by house music and trance. But irony has it I was to leave in 2011 having fallen in love with the Deep House sound I'd found at parties like Kehakuma at Space, Circo Loco at DC10 and others. I know the artwork says 2010-2013, and it is, because Maya Jane Coles and Maceo Plex had some tunes in that year that I discovered in my first summer which I HAD TO INCLUDE!!! Over the course of the 3 summers I met so many amazing people, on the island, and then also back here through the music scene that we were all involved in.  So, This mix is a little present for all of you I met along the way, a little time capsule of 43 of the best tracks from that golden era, I've spent an arm and a leg on discogs collecting these over a couple of months, and this year would be 10 years since I started MoreThanBare out on the island at V Club, where I was able to bring together a few of my island gang for a shindig in that mental little basement on the West End, we bought it back for the Ibiza Reunion at Egg London and the rest is history as they say. It was a very special time. So this is an anniversary present to myself, and a little present to you, and a love letter to nostalgia for that golden time for music. All my familia, you know who you are, wherever you are, I hope you can sit back and enjoy the memories with this one. If you were there, you know how it is, if you weren't, you missed some real good times. Enjoy the ride. Big love x

I know, I can't believe it either, it's November already! That makes this, the 23rd instalment of the 100% WAX series! Well, the original series I started in Jan 21 anyway. We now have the DNB focused 4TheHeadz sub series as well because clearly I wasn't mixing enough already haha. This month is the end of the 2nd year of the 100% WAX mix series! That makes this the 24th instalment. The series really just started life during lockdown as I missed picking out tunes, playing sets, and wanted some mixes for work full of my favourites, but as you can see the whole thing has sort of spiralled from there and now we're over 500 tunes deep and 24 months in! 
I've had a rule throughout the series that I'd not play the same track twice in a mix, to keep it different and to keep me digging through my old collection and hunting for new records each month, but, for this end of year special, I've basically dug out some of what I feel are the best records I've picked up, and played over the course of the series, like a little essential mix of the favourites.

Tom Frankel - 100% WAX | December 2022 : End Of Year Special

2 years ago today, in the middle of lockdown, I decided to post up a mix entitled 100% Wax January 2021, the series is now about to enter a 3rd year, having already done 24 mixes in the original series and started the 4TheHeadz DNB mix series alongside. So far, featuring over 500 tracks, which only a handful of tracks repeated in certain 'feature' mixes or specials. The March instalment last year was a tribute to my time in Ibiza and for me a golden period in the music that we love and play, so to start the year I've done another 90min special featuring tracks pretty much exclusively from 2010-2014, tunes that were anthems at parties like Kehakuma, Creche, Paradise, and especially the London after-hours DAWN. It's basically a collection of some of the most special tracks from the era for me, and I know for many friends.

Back with a collection of what I would say in my personal opinion are some of the finest examples of the lighter, funkier, smoother side of the DNB spectrum. Call it Liquid, call it whatever you like, these are the baby making beats, the heart string tuggers. After a few mixes full of slammers and rollers it was only right to draw for this side of the sound. Had real fun putting this one together, emotional vibes for real!

Slightly more downtempo and deeper than a lot of the mixes I've done for the series, but recently got a few bits out the wantlist I'd been after for a while like the first two tracks in the mix from Metro Area / Ian Pooley. That being said, does end up in slightly more bouncy and rolling territory, with a bit of techno even being slung in between the John Tejada tracks at the end! It's that time again. As the weather decides what it's doing I've been thinking about summer, and day parties, had a right rummage before my set at Ldn East last month for Forward Motion and was playing all sorts of old bits deciding what to play, recorded this as a little practice mix but it's one of my favourite sessions I've done for ages. Tom Frankel - 100% WAX | Feb 2021

Born and bred Londoner Tom Frankel is emerging as one of the nu breed of extra talented dance producers breaking out onto the scene. 

Over the last few years he has honed his trade by playing at legendary clubs such as The Egg, where he is a regular feature, plus many gigs at huge London clubs such as Studio 338, The Cause, Lightbox, Fabric in the UK. While also doing many seasons in Ibiza playing at Sankeys, Privilege, Viva, Zoo project, Hypercolour, and underground haven Plan Be.


Tom has played alongside industry greats such as Bushwacka!, Steve Lawler, Subb-An, Dubfire, Nina Kraviz, Julian Perez, Darius Syrossian, Bicep and Move D, but it is now that Tom himself is starting to take the limelight. 

His productions are fresh, forward thinking, and always with the dance floor in mind, creating his own unique fusion of House music where he has releases and remixes on labels such as Burnski's label Constant Sound and iO (Mulen) imprint OLDiViBES and more recently with his and Dayne Harper own imprint Council Work receiving a lot of attention, with support from Ben UFO, Call Super and Loco Dice amongst others, plus no1 chart positions on Beatport and Deejay.de for the first two releases. 

Tom has earned the admiration of his peers and rightly so, he’s a chap with a lively, transfixing personality and his sets are spirited and distinct, marrying a rich medley of current house, garage and minimal music with sounds from a bygone era. His rapid climb to success is attributable to his hard work and endearing character, which combined with his expert musical knowledge make him a serious one to watch in the future.
