This track contains some superb examples of mimicry including the imitation of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Green Catbird, Satin Bowerbird, Grey Butcherbird and numerous other bird species. In fact, in this excerpt alone at least 10 species are mimicked.

Tom Hall is an Australian audio/visual artist, residing in Los Angeles. 

Hall's practice is an ongoing exploration into peripheral space and time, inspired by environments and non-linearity found in the everyday. 

Using multiple approaches to recontextualize these spaces, Hall creates sound and imagery that accumulates in hybrid environments and temporal translations. These outcomes include found and computer programmed sound synthesis, reactive visual synthesis and physical installation. I was recently in Prishtina, Kosovo for a DJ gig, and on my second day there some friends I met brought me an Octatrack to play with. 

I recorded this jam entirely with their Octatrack and whatever samples were inside.

One live take, no edits, recorded stereo out of the octatrack.
