An Oklahoma-based team whose music has been performed in venues from the Hollywood Bowl to Carnegie Hall and featured in national commercials and film trailers has created a cinematic soundtrack to accompany appearances by the award-winning Express Clydesdales of Yukon.

The theme, designed by composers Edward Knight and Or Kribos to evoke the sweep of the American West, will debut next month at the 2017 Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade and be featured at fairs and festivals throughout the United States and Canada.

The addition of music to the horses’ appearances comes on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the Express herd, established by Bob Funk and headquartered in Yukon, Okla., on the 3,500-acre Express Ranch.

Appearing in four- six-, and eight-horse teams, the black-and-white Clydesdales average 200 days on the road visiting 50 cities each year, traveling as ambassadors for Funk’s Express Employment Professionals and raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The new theme will be broadcast through a custom sound system installed on the Express Clydesdale’s iconic stagecoach. The music features performances by fiddler Kyle Dillingham and Oklahoma City Philharmonic principals Kate Pritchett and David Steffens.

Other recent work by the project’s composers include Windows to the West, a celebratory orchestra piece by Edward Knight premiered at the 50th anniversary gala at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and Or Kribos’ music for national ad campaigns and movie trailers via the global music publisher Warner/Chappell Production Music.

The Express Clydesdales were crowned national champions at the 2016 National Clydesdale Show and have won the top prize in their category at the Calgary Stampede and the World Clydesdale Show competitions. The teams have appeared from coast to cost, from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade to the Tournament of Roses Parade. Their most famous passengers have been William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who donned white cowboy hats and rode on the top of the Express stage coach during their 2011 visit to Canada.
