Preview of "Slick" (2014)

This is my first electro-acoustic piece, scored for string orchestra, percussion, piano and pulsar recordings.'PSR' takes its inspiration from recordings of pulsars. Initially thought of as extra-terrestrial beacons (resulting in the astronomical abbreviation LGM “Little Green Men”), these stars are, today, acknowledged as some of the most exotic and violent objects in the observable universe.

Movement one, 'LGM', invokes ideas of extra-terrestrials, using extended techniques common to sci-fi film music. The second movement, 'PSR', contrasts this, as the majority of its material is inspired by the physical properties of pulsars themselves.

PSR is performed by The University of Surrey String Orchestra and additional performers of the university.

Stasis (Chamber Ensemble Version - Mar2012)

My piece, Noctilucent - originally the first movement of my Piccolo Concerto - is adapted here for orchestra alone. This revision was sparked by The Orpheus Foundation's 'Composer Of The Year' opportunity, which I applied for an won in January 2013. The foundation's orchestra, The Orpheus Sinfonia performed the work on the 24th January 2013 in St George's Church, Hannover Square, in The City of London, conducted by Thomas Carroll.

Particular thanks go to Thomas and the orchestra for their constructive input into shaping the nuances of the piece and thus this live recording.

Noctilucent - (2012, rev.2013)

The final movement of the Piano Suite (2020). The majority of the piece is based on a Risset Rhythm; a rhythmical effect where the tempo ever increases while the pulse modulates downwards periodically
