Electronic dance music been around for decades and is typically marked by:
- 4/4 time signature, arranged into bars, melodic elements, percussion, and vocals.
- 120 to 140 beats per minute serving as the heartbeat that drives the music forward.
- An intro: For EDM music it's a simple introduction that leads into the main track. (Often solely made up from percussion and a melody or bassline).
- A verse, which is an recognizable hook that defines the track, in this case a vocal.
- Build up and drops maximizing the track's energy level throughout.
