Nita is a noted member of the legendary House of Aviance and brought a much needed new energy to New York’s sound when she started DJing in the early 2000s and while as a resident of Mr. Black & Westgay, both truly notorious in New York’s club history. Currently she can be heard as one half of The Carry Nation at their monthly residency at Good Room, Battle Hymn and many touring dates around the globe.

It was an honor to get to close the Burned Room for the Por Detroit take over at [sic]. I really enjoy playing in smaller side rooms, making eye contact with the crowd and feeling the intimate energy right in front of me, and giving dancers a deeper alternative to whatever might be happening in the main room. I leaned into tracks with more percussive elements throughout the set, moving from peak hour selections into my trademark house sound before giving a soft and spacey landing. Lots of long and drawn out blends and cinematic builds, with a couple fun vocals thrown in for good measure.

Resident disco queen Macarena (@macarenagl) and house maestro Tommy Hart (@tommyhartdj) teamed up for a surprise b2b in the Main Hall this past December. What started as a spontaneous collaboration between two close friends was nothing short of a sonic feast: a crudité of feel good disco, hands-in-the-air house and high energy anthems. Girl Dinner is served.

While it's impossible to fully capture the energy in the room that night, this recorded live set gets close. An hour and a half of sweet and savory tracks to feed the soul. It's fun, it's fresh, it's Girl Dinner!

Everything Comes Back to You is about the cyclical nature of life; friends and lovers, important places or pieces of music, all entering and exiting your orbit over time. Just when you think someone or something is gone for good, there they are again. 

I started compiling this mix in the spring of last year right after my 30th birthday, recorded it the following summer and have sat with it ever since. It was a very emotional and introspective journey in the throes of my Saturn return, while experiencing a lot of uncomfortable growth. I hope it captures the feeling of not being who you were anymore, and discovering who you will be, but that this "new" version of yourself is actually lost somewhere behind or maybe deep inside you, and it's only a matter of time before it orbits its way back around.

It's been very fun to see the tracks pop up in serendipitous and special ways since selecting them last year, only further proving the thesis of the mix. Born in the mystic swamps of Louisiana and collecting records since the age of 3 means you’ll get a multi-layered genre-bending techno house jazz infused rave vibration at the club. However, the sunrise set is his fetish. Calling the light back to the sky with music is a powerful connected grounding meditation. It’s an honor to curate these ritualistic moments for dancers as they explore what it’s like to exist outside the body. Anything from unabashedly kitsch disco to blissful ambient and percussive breakbeats can pop up in a Father Figure set….Ready?
