Hello friends, here is a selection of music I played over the 3 days of the mini burn held at Sima Kade bush retreat, just outside of Johannesburg. So good to share music and days of fun with such a creative and fun loving community. Long may this last !

MM **** MM Spring is in the air and much anticipated after a deep winter in the south. There are 2 sides to this new mix, one foot in winter and the other in spring, there is a place in between which I wanted to capture. May this music bring you into a springtime state where ever you may be :/)

SPRING MIXTAPE

Hello friends. Another year heads towards December, time for some discernment on what has passed and what lies ahead. May this mix make you move with this, as best as possible

DISCERNING DECEMBER

Happy new year *^*! may it be full of all the good things in life. Here is a mix I recorded from this past new years eve party, shared with friends in the most beautiful bush escape. We had fire, lightning & thunder and a time to dance and celebrate the passing of a year, and the welcoming in of another. This is a compilation of tunes from a box of music that I have been playing with for the past few months, and a few classics - Enjoy where ever this mix finds you and be the best in 2022 and beyond :) 

Special thanks to all the contributing artists on the new year's mandala, created over this special time.

BELONGING

Here is my live recorded final - ish set from Sunday's peach of a night at Afrikaburn, after @kobusm landed the temple burn with some amazing music. 

It was such a pleasure to be part of the Loki support and mischief team, we had almost 30 DJ's playing off Loki during the course of the week and what fun was had. Such diversity and energy brought by each one. 

I was gifted 2 sound clip opportunities that came with such spontaneity during the week. Firstly a verbatim recital of the Lorax story by Alex, 1815 wonderful words so elegantly told. Secondly, a handpan contribution from a wonderful human to close off this special Sunday / end of burn week moment, as the embers receded.

I have mixed these 2 clips into this mix where it felt most right

AFRIKABURN 2019 - SATURDAY SUNRISE SESSION

Wow - Thursday this year at Afrikaburn was quite a day. Pumping winds blew across the playa, but did not deter the amazing souls from coming out to party. This was definitely one of the most challenging sets I have ever played - even being 2 meters up :) With all the dust came another beauty, mystique and celebration of the departed.

It's spring again! After a deep and crazy winter time here on earth in 2020 - it's time to open up again and breathe in the outdoors and the freshness of this time of year :)

Saturday sessions at the Greenside, good people, music and smiles. This mix is a tribute to José Padilla who left our earth this week after imparting a legacy of chilled music over the past few decades. Gracias hermano

DEEP DECEMBER

Tommy started DJ-ing in the late 90's when he was moving between Cape Town and London. This was an incredible time to get into electronic music in Africa and in Europe. Since then he has amassed bags of experience by traveling the world and by opening up to the University of Life. Tommy’s sees his sound as a global snapshot of this beautiful world's music and cultures. He believes that the music we share today was born from Millions of years of Joy and the gathering of our ancestor's. It sits deep in our DNA. Tommy is an avid Afrika Burner, with  ‘Loki the Rhino support crew' and sharing music from the top of Loki the Rhino is his happy place. His favorite times to play are sunset and sunrise. But occasionally he can be heard deep into the dark of night. See you on the dance floor!
