French producer Vigi returns to Slightly Transformed with a three-track EP. 'Show Me' itself is up first and has a late 70s/early 80s feel, with classic disco strings married to a more boogie-esque male vocal. 'Feel This Love', which follows, drops the tempo and has a hazy, laidback feel that means it would slot well into Balearic sets. The package is then completed by 'Sundown', wherein a full male soul vocal and understated beats are served up in wobbly, warping fashion ? la Lemon Jelly, Bent et al. Classy stuff all round, but 'Show Me' takes the gold.

Together was written for someone close to me who was going through a rough patch at the time. I wanted to write something hopeful to reassure them that we would get through the hard times together and come out the other side even stronger. In a sense, the song is about how shared hardship can strengthen relationships of all kinds. As the past year and a half has been a tough one for most, it feels like the right time to release this song about mental wellbeing and looking out for one another."

Following the logic that the biography and discography of any artist is closely linked, our partnership with Bernardo Campos is almost symbiotic, since Bruce Leroys' first gig in Rio de Janeiro Bernardo has had an important presence in our career, one of the most influential and respected DJs of the Rio scene in the last 20 years, curator of the main events and venues of the wonderful city, 50% of Nu-Azeite, label manager and our friend since before Bruce Leroys, our partnership in this release consolidates all the various layers of common interests both personally and artistically and professionally.

The track Pleasure was brought to us by Bê already very close to the final aesthetic, we made punctual changes in the melody, the beats, basses and synths to give it our signature sound without de-characterizing the musical idea that we had already enjoyed immediately.

To enhance the release we thought of looking for a remixer who would be emerging then, and that we both admired, some names came up, but none sounded more relevant at that moment, we are talking about 2021, than the Colombian Felipe Gordon.  With releases on many of our favorite labels, such as Local Talk, Heist, Toy Tonics, Razor-N-Tape, and many others, we all agreed that the new Latin American Deep Jazzy House star would be a great asset for the Pleasure EP.

Felipe Gordon's version (premiered here) came with all the signature that a remix can have, tape saturation, organic bass, jazzy/funky spice, sweeps and space disco synths... We believe that Felipe Gordon represents very well the quality standard that the label intends and projects, in our vision, a relevant future for the label.

Tibi Dabo returns to Crosstown Rebels with his second EP of the year The Distance We Share. His third EP will follow in the Autumn in advance of his debut album forthcoming in 2021. Globally revered American producer David Morales turns in two outstanding remixes that demonstrate contrasting aspects of his illustrious career.

The Distance We Share sees beautiful melodies standing both individually and combined to create an ethereal atmosphere. Starting with golden keys that drop into a twinkling lullaby, rising and falling throughout the track before ending with danceable energy. Komorebi opens with melancholic chords, the bassline moves at a relaxed pace over a rhythm of hi-hats and cowbell, sensual distorted vocals and delicate chimes induce a feeling of romance. The first remix of Komorebi from David Morales sees him add his legendary Red Zone stamp of New York influenced house music, building tension with darker tones, chugging percussion and hypnotic loops. On the Diridim Mix Morales turns the vibe to that of his newest label, with classic soulful electronics adding a deep sense of warmth.

Still in its infancy, the Tibi Dabo project from Max Guardans has seen his unique emotive take on electronic music and sound design catch the attention of influential figureheads. His debut release the Ende EP on Sasha's Last Night on Earth imprint demonstrating his remarkable talent. With his determined attitude and unrelenting thirst for exploration impressing respected tastemaker Damian Lazarus, he was immediately signed to Crosstown Rebels. His last two EP’s Her Moon and Disbelieve on the imprint, initiating a run of unrelenting form that marks the start of big things to come.

Tomos is no stranger to reinvention. Over the years, his sonic explorations have spanned genres, yet one thread has remained constant—his deep-rooted connection to house music. His earliest co-releases under the alias Vanguard were high-energy French House cuts, built on the foundations of crate-digging and sample collage, channelling the spirit of Daft Punk and the wider French electronic movement. 

Now, 15 years later, he returns to those techniques with fresh perspective, releasing his latest EP Soul Feels Good through the esteemed Noire & Blanche. 

Soul Feels Good isn’t just a nod to the past—it’s a showcase of the vast influences that drive his ever-evolving sound. Tomos weaves together an intricate patchwork, merging the meticulous sampling techniques of his early career with a broader, more mature musical palette. The result? A genre-fluid blend of Jazz, House, Dub, Soul, Gospel, Broken Beat, Downtempo and Disco—stitched together with the finesse of an artist who has spent years honing his skills.
