Camo & Krooked 20 Years of D&B Mix

POING and Ratkje's collaboration Brecht/Weill collaboration started in Saunabar 17.08.00. This was the first time ever we performed this repertoire that has expanded and made the foundation for two recent records: Wach auf! and Kapital & Moral, the latter released May 2016. 
Songs in this bootleg are in order: Surabaya-Johnny, Kanonensong, Barbara Song, Alabama Song, Die Moritat von Mackie Messer.

One more Night at Cologne's RAVE CLUB _ fall' 89 _ ... another part of Claus Bachor's lost RCC mix-tapes [  also to be found via http://samurai.fm/claus-bachor--psycho-thrill-cologne/one-more-night-at-rave-club-cologne-fall1989  ].

Cologne’s legendary RAVE CLUB [ http://www.psychothrill.de/?page=item&post=339 ] had caused quite a stir as a club institution in the Dome city during the years 1988 and 1989, not only throughout Germany, but also on an European basis – e.g. via features in FACE and I-D, as well as through its monthly schedule and its bookings [et al. Marshall Jefferson, Kym Mazelle, EPMD, Todd Terry…] together with the residents. For the first time, there now were club nights in Cologne, which were solely dedicated to House and Acid without any compromise and these also became an example in many respects for anything substantial that has been going on in Cologne’s night life ever since, be it Space Club, Elevator, Warehouse, “PSYCHO THRILL” or “Total Confusion” and which laid a foundation for all kinds of sounds that any Psycho Thrill guest has been experiencing since 1991 on a regular basis: Get right on matey – there are no rules, fear is unknown and sleep is out of question!

“This rather techy seventh prime-time part from a temporarily lost mix-tape series of myself- sorry here again for a few slight rumbles – was recorded during one of my rare solo nights without my partner Roland Casper sometime in November of 1989. It was done with a crappy RAIN mixer lacking gain control, only allowing semi-professional monitoring and I would kick any promoter’s ass for this today. The DJ booth also was exposed to some disturbances by visitors, which accounts for some of the skips during the mix. But the complete works of euphoric clubbers and the extraordinary atmosphere, which was created by the combination of a very good sound system, light and sound [two strobes, a fog machine, two flowers], made this club experience so absolutely valuable. This 7th part of Claus Bachor's RAVE CLUB Cologne mix series also features another special track collection of classic HOUSE music that conjures up the 4/4-class of '89, and its unpredicted blend of Deep-House/Garage, Acid, HipHouse, EBM/Industrial including early Techno and especially Detroit Techno.

This mixwork went under sound restoration by Cologne's finest CHRIS BAUMANN [ http://soundcloud.com/chris-baumann ] from some TDK tapes (that were recorded on a Yamaha tape recorder, so the quality is poor at times, but it is an authentic sound document of Cologne’s club life in the late 80s on the other hand) and got finally re-mastered there.

Tambura - Fujara - Overtones

A track from the album Sult, to be released on the Norwegian label Rune Grammofon March 8 2019. 

Composed, performed, mixed and produced by Maja S. K. Ratkje 2018.

The music on the album is based upon the music created for the ballet Sult/Hunger by Jo Strømgren for the Norwegian National Ballett, 2018. The track titles are quotes from Knut Hamsun's novel Sult from 1890. Sung text is in Maja's made-up language for the performance. 
The instrument used in the performance and on this record is designed for Sult and built at the Norwegian Opera around an old pump organ.

The Dream Garden

Augustus awoke with a glassy tinkling in his ears. It was so cold that there was a sparkle of fine frost over the dormitory. On his bed lay a long, elegant crystal, shimmering from within. It was his last dream, frozen solid.

Wrapping his ragged blanket around him, Augustus cradled the frigid fantasy and sneaked out. He felt sick with fear as he descended the steep, narrow staircase. His bare feet were numb and he clenched his jaw to stop his teeth chattering

He knelt by the grey stone wall at the end of the garden, rocking the glistening gem in his arms until the first beam of the rising sun fell upon it. The crystal gradually lost its luster, fading and shriveling until Augustus was left holding the body of a large lizard with glowing skin. Its diamond eyes faded in the dawn light.

Fighting back tears, he scraped a hole in the vegetable patch with his bare hands, burying the body with the others. As he crept back to bed, he prayed he would dream no more dreams, at least until it was warmer and they could find their own way to the garden.

Santi (from Asunción, Paraguay) and Tuğçe (from Istanbul, Turkey) left their homes to follow their dreams of music and have been road companions and musical partners for more than a decade. They collaborated on two full length-albums, four EPs and numerous singles which captivated listeners worldwide. With their 2016 EP El Regreso del Gallito, “Santi & Tuğçe rewrote Paraguayan folklore” (Thump Vice, Brazil) and with their Songs for My Grandmother, selected as one of the best albums from Turkey in 2017 by Beehype, they remade Turkish classics for contemporary audiences. Drawing on their eclectic background and constant pulse for innovation, Santi & Tuğçe once again reinvent an unpredictable and enticing soundscape of the Caribbean and beyond.
