The Song of Troy: The Dream and the Ruin
On the rugged coast of Asia Minor, where the Aegean Sea kisses the golden walls, stood Troy: city of kings, prophecies, and pride. Founded by the descendants of Dardanus, blessed by Apollo and Aphrodite, Troy shone like a jewel among the peoples of the ancient world.
The Rape and the Curse
It all began with an apple. Eris, goddess of discord, threw the golden fruit at a divine wedding, engraved with the words: "To the fairest." Three goddesses claimed the title: Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. Judgment fell on Paris, the Trojan prince, who chose Aphrodite, seduced by her promise: the love of the most beautiful woman in the world.
So, Paris sailed to Sparta and abducted Helen, wife of King Menelaus. Love turned to damnation. Greece burned with fury. Agamemnon, brother of Menelaus, summoned the heroes: Achilles, Odysseus, Ajax, Nestor… and a thousand ships set sail for Troy.
Ten Years of War
The war was long and cruel. The walls of Troy, built by Poseidon, held firm. Achilles, invincible except for his heel, killed Hector, the city's noble defender. The grief of Priam, king of Troy, was so profound that even the gods wept.
But the Greeks could not conquer the city by force. Then, Odysseus devised a ruse: a wooden horse, offered as a gift of peace. The Trojans accepted it, unaware that warriors were hidden inside its belly.
The Fall and Destiny
That night, while Troy slept, the Greeks jumped off the horse and opened the gates. The city was razed to the ground. Fire, blood, wailing. Aeneas, Hector's cousin, escaped with his father and son, guided by the gods to Italy, where he would found Rome.
