Pato Watson and James Rod think that nu-disco has had its day. Instead, they've decided to champion "Disco Nu". So how does it differ to the shiny, synth-laden sound of nu-disco? Well, for starters its' dark and driving, with echo-laden spoken word snippets and trippy guitar sounds rising above unfussy drums and a bassline that's powerful, heavy, druggy and thrusting. There are synth riffs, too, though they're sharper than your average nu-disco workout. Tony Disco delivers the first remix, a low-slung affair that wraps breezy house pianos round a no-nonsense disco-house groove. In contrast, the "Deep Rating Version" is a delay-laden dub disco excursion rich in sustained synthesizer chords, crashing cymbals and elastic bass. All three versions are top-notch, though we probably prefer the latter.

We now welcome back to the label our Argentinian star and uprising talented producer 'Alexny' with a brand new 4 tracker EP digging deep into a vast variety of musical roots adding a modern touch to it. To open this incredible journey 'I Believe' comes in the form of a classic disco cut with a housey drum ensemble and fresh guitar riffs attached to the groove making it perfect as an opener track for any occasion. For our second stop 'Diggin' Roots' arrives with an exceptional funky groove, cheerful vocals and outstanding flute solos bringing us back to the 70s. Right next to it 'Tamanqueiro' takes us all the way to South America with an exotic Brazilian-boogie blend consisting in traditional cuicas and congas for the rhythm section. To finish this incredible trip we cross the Atlantic Ocean all the way to Cameroon with 'Sekele Movement' as a tribute to the funk master Pasteur Lappe. Enjoy !!
