French superstar in the making, Obbie joins the label with ‘Golden Linings’ beautifully remixed by Omer Tayar and Omer Bar.

Parisian producer and DJ, Obbie is purveyor of rich harmonies and crisp and warm sounds that transport souls. His live sets are filled with moments of high drama where blankets of melancholia are draped around your shoulders in warm embraces, and his productions are no less eventful.

‘Golden Linings’ opens with groove. Ethereal voices float above the sparse percussion and a warm, homely feeling invites you to stay a while. Sombre piano evokes deep thought as the groove intensifies midway and angelic vocals drift in and out. On remix duties, Omer Tayar and Omer Bar toughen the groove with subtle tribalism and airy pads. Pushing the vocal to the front adds a new dimension.

Although it is nearly three years after the release of my first album, I started on Untold Stories back in 2008. Inspired by Francesco Pico’s ‘Imagining Sounds’ and Sasha’s ‘Involver’ series, it all began with an idea of producing an uninterrupted album. I wanted tracks to blend into each other, to create a sense of listening to a continuous piece of music instead of going from one track to the next. As you can imagine, things always seem so much easier than they are. Untold Stories at times seemed to know as much technical as inspirational problems. However, at the beginning of 2010, nearly 18 months after work commenced, everything fell into place and I was able to put the last pieces together. I truly hope you enjoy listening to Untold Stories. It reflects everything I have loved about music in the past years.
