Dublin based DJ and Producer, Glenn Davis tells a story with this all vinyl mix on Episode Four of our Producers Guest Mix Series. A journey through Jazz, Fusion, NuSoul, Disco, Broken Beat and Soulful House gives an introspective into Glenn’s impressive taste and collection. It’s no wonder his production work reflects such a mood and vibration that’s undeniably deep.


Glenn has over 25 years DJing experience that has seen him play many clubs and festivals over the years including Southport Weekender and Liverpool Disco Festival .
A passionate vinyl collector since the mid nineties, his passion for finding and playing good music never stops.

Glenn's earliest music influences come from his older brothers record collections.
The Jam, James Brown , Prince , The Who, Sade , The Style Council  , Luther Vandross , De la Soul , Bronski Beat , Erasure, Level 42  and much of the 80's new wave and pop all featured heavily in the Davis household.
Magazines like The Face ID, and later Straight No Chaser were also sources inspiration for Glenn

In 2003 he got together with his friends and inspired by trips to the legendary Southport Soul Weekender they formed Groovement Soul with the intention of running club nights with a more deep soulful jazz house sound bringing some of their favorite dj's to play in Dublin bringing Dj’s Phil Asher RIP, Lay Far , Recloose , Bob Jones, Benji B, Kev Beadle , Lay Far and Thatmanmonkz

In 2012 Glenn began his journey into music production which has seen him work with U.K. House music legend Ashley Beedle (Africanz On Marz) on four releases.
Glenn’s Body & Soul Ep , Namida Ep and Special Ep all on (F*CLR Records ) gained support from Dj’s of the caliber of  Laurant Garnier, DJ Moxie, Joey Negro, Dj Cosmo , Dj Nature and many more with Francois K playing Namida (Africanz on Marz remix) on his World Wide FM

Glenn' first vinyl release on Ele Records (2017) was on a various artist ep , his track "Holding On" was played by non other than Moodymann. 

To date, Glenn has released music on Ele Records, F*CLR Music, Deeper Groove Recordings, YORE Records , Wolf Music, Ascension On Wax, Local Talk and Midnight Riot. 
His recent release on Ascension On Wax has House heads turning worldwide 
This EP includes a superb remix from Mark Hand and has been receiving props from dj’s Rainer Trudy , Jimpster, Dj Sneak , The Mighty Zaf, Nick Holder , Fred P , Franck Roger, DJ - Jus Ed , Lay Far , Giles Smith , Honey Dijon and many more. 

Recent work includes a track for prestigious label Local Talk Records in their 13 years later compilation, remixes for Dj Craig Smith, Dj Jauche,  DJ Gratts and Irish producer Balmr for Toronto’s Selections label .

We thank Glenn for this refreshing expression in sound. A most welcome addition to the VADR Collaborative.

International Sounds 10 - Dicky Trisco [with Nosha Luv]

In honour of my new EP, Breeze FM, I thought I'd put together 60 mins of some of the dance music that inspired the making of the record. The mix is equal parts deep house, italo, balearic -- all with a light and breezy touch. There's some relatively new music in there, and a couple classics too. It's as easy to dance to, as it is to put on while you're making dinner. I had an absolute blast putting this together, and I hope you love what you hear! Stay Breezy!

Tone Control (aka Simon Finnegan and Marcus Harris) emerged from the fertile soil of London’s mid-naughties soulful underground dance scene. 

Following their debut single, “I Want You” on Grab Recordings in 2005, the Tone Control Music label was formed in 2006. Tone Control came to wide critical acclaim in 2008 with their much-lauded single, "Illusion" featuring James B. Coleman. Another smash, ‘Take Me Away’ featuring Adeola Ranson arrived in 2010. Subsequent singles, “Without Your Love”, and “Starting with Me” with Robert Owens followed, defining their futuristic British electronic soul sound.

DJ's such as Kerri Chandler and Theo Parrish became foremost supporters of Tone Control productions, while their music was remixed by some of the worlds most prolific producers, such as DJ Spinna, Jose Carretas, Mark E and 6th Borough Project.

Over time, Simon developed the label, Tone Control Music, releasing singles by fellow producers and artists including Opolopo, thatmanmonkz, Tomson & Fyza, Demarkus Lewis, as well as Marcus' solo pseudonym, Suitdancer and Simon's boogie moniker, Love Over Money.

Recognising the power of remixes to bring strong songs to different dance floors and times of the night, Tone Control Music has worked with Atjazz, Sean McCabe, Alton Miller, restless soul (the late great Phil Asher and Mark de Clive-Lowe), Opolopo and more to produce strong and varied remix packages played by the worlds finest DJ's including masters such as Tony Humphries and the late great Frankie Knuckles.

Emigration, kids, studying and work resulted in a hiatus from 2016. Simon’s record collection continued to grow in London while, Marcus performed as Suitdancer and with Soul Spektra Sound in Madrid.

2022 sees a new chapter for Tone Control, with a re-issue of their, cult classic, “Illusion”, complete with a translation from Detroit hero, Theo Parrish. A return to the studio beckons, so all discerning futurists should keep Tone Control on their radar...
