Rick Wade is one of those electronic music producers who deserves the honorific title of "maestro." Listening to his music unlocks vibes, sensations, triggered by a deep knowledge of music that is impossible to reproduce without doing the work. The same, I think, goes for his DJ sets. 

This mix series, Sanctify, was created with a sound like Rick Wade's in mind: warm, analog-sounding deep house. "Late Night Basix" could be an alternate title. Though we started with others, Rick Wade drew the blueprint for this.

In the third release for 2024, we arrive with a vinyl that only in four tracks represents our sound.

We firmly believe in cheerful rhythms for the dance floor, and also in musicals to listen to and enjoy in any environment.

On the A side, bs as deep shows his roots as a lover of Afro beats and his Latin influences.

For the B side, we have a collaborative work with an incredible musician who travels the world showing his skills on the keys. Lucio de Rosa participates with us for the first time, and in a forceful way.

Without a doubt, this duo will contribute a lot to contemporary music.

Tone Control (aka Simon Finnegan and Marcus Harris) emerged from the fertile soil of London’s mid-naughties soulful underground dance scene. 

Following their debut single, “I Want You” on Grab Recordings in 2005, the Tone Control Music label was formed in 2006. Tone Control came to wide critical acclaim in 2008 with their much-lauded single, "Illusion" featuring James B. Coleman. Another smash, ‘Take Me Away’ featuring Adeola Ranson arrived in 2010. Subsequent singles, “Without Your Love”, and “Starting with Me” with Robert Owens followed, defining their futuristic British electronic soul sound.

DJ's such as Kerri Chandler and Theo Parrish became foremost supporters of Tone Control productions, while their music was remixed by some of the worlds most prolific producers, such as DJ Spinna, Jose Carretas, Mark E and 6th Borough Project.

Over time, Simon developed the label, Tone Control Music, releasing singles by fellow producers and artists including Opolopo, thatmanmonkz, Tomson & Fyza, Demarkus Lewis, as well as Marcus' solo pseudonym, Suitdancer and Simon's boogie moniker, Love Over Money.

Recognising the power of remixes to bring strong songs to different dance floors and times of the night, Tone Control Music has worked with Atjazz, Sean McCabe, Alton Miller, restless soul (the late great Phil Asher and Mark de Clive-Lowe), Opolopo and more to produce strong and varied remix packages played by the worlds finest DJ's including masters such as Tony Humphries and the late great Frankie Knuckles.

Emigration, kids, studying and work resulted in a hiatus from 2016. Simon’s record collection continued to grow in London while, Marcus performed as Suitdancer and with Soul Spektra Sound in Madrid.

2022 sees a new chapter for Tone Control, with a re-issue of their, cult classic, “Illusion”, complete with a translation from Detroit hero, Theo Parrish. A return to the studio beckons, so all discerning futurists should keep Tone Control on their radar...
