Simon Charles and the Salt Lake

From Yuen Chee Wai: This piece was inspired by the first exhibition I attended after coming out from lockdown. The exhibition was Non-Aligned, an impressive 3 film work at the Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore (http://ntu.ccasingapore.org/exhibitions/non-aligned/). In it, there was an amazing work by a friend, Naeem Mohaiemen, titled Two Meetings and a Funeral, which researched the history of the political organisation around the Non-Aligned Movement in the 60s, intensively culled from footage and interviews from back then. This led me to think deeper, and to transpose some of the thoughts into a 3-segment piece, loosely considered within a concept that questions the idea of Non-Alignments, Movements and the need for resistance. This is the start of a series of sound works that explore deeper this idea of Non-Aligned Movements.
