Deniro is the moniker of Reynier Hooft van Huijsduijnen, one of the most promising new techno talents rising from The Netherlands. His precise and sparing use of melody and rhythm in beautiful fashion, and importantly not at the expense of its inherent, is deeply rooted in timeless Detroit soul music. His craftsmanship has gained attention by the likes of Hunee, ROD, Steve Rachmad and Nina Kraviz to name but a few. The latter released his track ‘Organezized’ on her imprint трип (Trip) in 2015.

Deniro is also heavily involved in Tape Records, a small but acclaimed electronic music label from Amsterdam that is distributed by Rush Hour. Besides being a releasing artist on the label, he’s one of the participators and executives that helm the imprint. Deniro has been working his vintage gear for ten years in severe isolation and the pay off is to be heard in his solid yet emotional tracks. In 2012 he inaugurated Tape Records with his debut the Grey EP, followed by Avatism (Tape, 2014), The Penal Colony (Tape, 2015) and Painting (Tape, 2016). In between, Dekmantel Records signed Deniro for their DKMNTL x Patta compilation series. ‘Swing’ was released in the weeks prior to Dekmantel Festival 2015.

Described as ‘a musician, pioneer, sound designer, steady force, rebel, icon, an outsider and a great live artist’, Cisco Ferreira is the man behind The Advent - a globally celebrated, long-running producer and selector this side of the electronic realm. 

Working as a duo with Mr.G in 1990 under ‘The Advent’ alias, the pair cultivated a sound which marked a new wave of high-quality electro and techno sounds, before amicably parting ways in 1999. Since then, The Advent has gone on to release on an array of imprints like Dystopian, Naked Lunch and Tronic to name a few. 

The Advent returns on Saturday 24th with Ramiro Lopez and OC & Verde. To mark the occasion, the Portuguese native has created a 60-minute blend of pummelling drums with lashings of electrifying percussion throughout - a taste of what’s on his current sonic radar.

オランダのハーグ出身のサウンド・クリエイター、Dave Huismans(デイヴ・ハウスマンズ)によるソロ・プロジェクト(2562というのはオランダのハーグの地区コードらしい)。 Dogdaze(Flyin' High)名義でブレイクビーツ、A Made Up Sound(Philpot)名義でダウンビートといったようにサウンド・スタイルによって名義を使い分けている。2562は彼がダブステップのスタイル で活動するときの名義である。08年に1stフル・アルバム『Aerial』をPinch(ブリストルのダブステップのパイオニアの1人)が主宰するレー ベル<Tectonic>からリリースしており、このアルバムに収録されている「Channel TWO」「Techno Dread」「Kameleon」は07年にアナログでリリースされ、ダブステップのパーティで多くプレイされた。特に「Techno Dread」はすでにダブステップ・アンセムと言っていいほどシーンに浸透している。

最近はスタジオワークが忙しいね、、A Made Up Sound名義からリリースされる、わりとテクノっぽい感じの2枚の12インチを仕上げたところだよ。まず”Demons/Extra Time”は自分のレーベルからCloneディストリビューションでリリースされる。そのすぐあとにDelsin Recordsからもう１枚がリリースされる予定だよ。それからMetalheadzからリリースされるComixとスェーデンのテクノアクトSkudgeのためのリミックスがある。あとは、ちょっと休んだら2562名義の楽曲を書き始めるよ。

A soundtrack for dark cellars and strobe filled clubs, molded from a pure and uncut techno template. That’s what Darko Esser’s Tripeo alter ego is only and all about. His ‘First Trip’ debut at the end of 2012 took the techno scene by storm and received massive support from key figures around the globe. Now that the dust has started to settle down, it has become clear that Tripeo is here to stay.

His work since has found a home on labels such as Theory, BALANS, PoleGroup, Deep Sound Channel as well as 4 new vinyl-only Trips on his self-titled imprint. Tripeo is a force to be reckoned with on stage as well, as he proved in his machine funk-driven live shows as well as tireless, hypnotic DJ sets in some of the finest clubs and festivals around, as this recording we are presenting to you today proves.

Hello, my name is Derek. The path that led me to working for Rich stems back to the mid-nineties from simply listening and dancing to his sets. Around 1997, we became closer from when I worked at Record Time and would sell him records. In 2002, I was brought on to be his travelling technical assistant and from then I worked on other projects for him in the years that followed. In 2010, I was brought to Berlin to work compiling content for richiehawtin.com. 

For my Minus Connections podcast, I decided to do a one-take all vinyl mix using only records that I associate with Rich's sets over the years. Some are obvious classics, while others maybe not so much. However, ALL of these selected tracks hold a very sweet spot in my heart, and provide countless memories of Richie playing them.
