‘Aye Aye Mi Mi’ is the second single from Mano Le Tough’s new album, ‘At The Moment’ which is out now on Pampa Records. The single really highlights the vocal & instrumental skills of the Irish producer, resulting in an indie dance ear-worm that’s hard to shake.

“It’s the only tune on the record that survived from my original batch of demos and sketches” says Mano. “It’s a kind of reflection on narcissism, social media saturation and the ego”.

"Both Chicago-style pizza and Chicago-style house music are deep and delicious, and this is fresh out of the furnace. This iconic sound is exactly what’s celebrated on the fifth release of Deeper Groove Recordings as the label once again enlists Cork-based talent Southbound Sounds for their new EP, ‘Whiplash’.

Lead track ‘Whiplash’ swirls and rotates around the listener with phased claps, hats and clean percussion, softened by a frenzy of warm organ stabs. These are paired with an incessant, distant vocal sample, and before you know it, the groove has you moving. Glenn Davis’ stunning remix of this later in the EP takes the keys to another level with a cool drum break and subtle, bumping bassline.

‘Vortex’ is a joyous house number from the Southbound Sounds boys. Again revolving around a smattering of organ stabs, it feels classy and effortless. Highly danceable stuff.

The final track on the EP, ‘Beacon’, winds things down in a completely unique way. Almost Balearic in style, it features a straining violin string, dubby vocals and synths that delay into the sunset. It really is a dusky tune – perfect for bringing a dancefloor to a unifying close."

PREMIERE: Southbound Sounds - Whiplash

“Evanescent” is his delicious debut track which is quickly perceivable as having an innate quality to blend fresh analogical textures with the finest US modern-house. Contemporary soulful music which at times rebels and dares with the coolest bass lines while still remaining melodic.

As for his voice, be it standing alone or multiplied to create a soulful choir, Vermont’s vocals move from reassuring to heartbreaking.

John Vermont grew up surrounded by iconic artists such as Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and Isaac Hayes. A fact which resonates from his heart and is conveyed in his emotions. The easiness with which John Vermont gives us goose bumps is reminiscent of singers such as Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons) and  why not, James Blake. The release is completed with an extended and a dub version (without vocals), as is standard with all 12” singles and has been since they were first released.

Providing the cherry on the top, Pablo Bolívar stokes the fiery soul of this record with deep house beats that draw you to the dance floor.  As the track progresses we find ourselves enveloped in subtly distorted synths and evolving rhythmic details.

“Evanescent” a taste of great things to come.
